What was Willow thinking? General Hospital's Katelyn MacMullen weighs in on Drillow

General Hospital's Willow shockingly kissed Drew, and now she doesn't know what to do.

Nobody was more surprised than Willow and Drew when they suddenly found themselves kissing on General Hospital's Fourth of July celebration. The magic of the moment -- and the fireworks -- got to them. Surprisingly, Willow was the one who initiated the kiss, but Drew certainly didn't push her away.

GH had hinted at something happening between Drew and Willow for months, but it seemed like a pipe dream for some fans who wanted a big soapy mess. When it happened, some fans cheered, but others were stunned that Willow would ever look at anyone besides her husband Michael. What did Katelyn MacMullen think when she learned the direction her character would take?

"There were definitely little things going off in my mind, like, 'Could this mean something?'" MacMullen told Soap Opera Digest. "We just had fun with it. We were like, 'We'll just go for it and have fun and see what happens.' And then, of course, it turned into this, which has been really, really fun."

MacMullen and Cameron Mathison, who plays Drew, learned about the kiss from Executive Producer Frank Valentini before they saw it in the script, and they decided to roll with it. MacMullen also had to find her character's underlying motivations. While Willow credits Drew with saving her life when he returned from Greenland with Liesl, who was Willow's bone marrow donor, MacMullen thinks there is more to Drillow's newfound closeness.

"I think that Willow and Drew have just developed this bond and this sort of new mutual understanding and admiration toward one another," she said. "They love the family that they're in, but they're sort of [later additions to it] and I think that sort of bonds them in a way, too. There's a little bit of an outsider thing going on that's bonding them."

What Willow does not know is that her mother happens to be carrying on an office affair with Drew. While Willow told Nina what happened, Nina chose to keep the truth about her own relationship a secret. Willow's husband will also be in shock when he finds out about his wife and his uncle -- and it's a soap, so we know he'll find out. Can their marriage survive?

"I think the longer she waits [to come clean], potentially that could have more impact and create more complications," MacMullen said. "But I think it's just a really complicated situation no matter what. No matter what she does, the implications are quite large."

Will Michael forgive Willow when he learns the truth? And will Willow forgive Nina? We want to hear from you -- so drop your comments in the Comments section below, tweet about it on Twitter, share it on Facebook, or chat about it on our Message Boards.
