Daniel Goddard shares fun encounter with new General Hospital fan

Daniel Goddard is a newcomer to General Hospital after nearly two decades of playing Cane Ashby on The Young and the Restless.

But the veteran actor, who portrays Professor Henry Dalton at Port Charles University, is already becoming recognizable to GH fans for his new character. Goddard shared details of a fun encounter with a fan he had while walking on the UCLA campus in Los Angeles.

Life imitates art for new General Hospital star

On his accounts on Instagram and X, formerly known as Twitter, Goddard said he was on the campus because his son, Sebastian, has a summer class there.

He captioned the post, “That crazy moment where Life imitates Art… and it takes you a second to process it. Sometimes life can be so funny.” In the video, he said, “Someone goes, ‘You’re Professor Dalton!’ And it dawned on me. I’m in college and I play Professor Dalton on TV. So I play a professor on TV and I’m actually at a college, and someone recognized me as a professor.

On the Instagram post, several fans commented that they wished he were still playing Cane on The Young and the Restless. A couple said they started watching General Hospital solely because he was now on it.

@marybbiggins said, “I started watching General Hospital because of you!”

@natatch._.davie added, “I now started watching it also. So happy to see you on screen again my dear.”

@im_jlyons joked, “Were you carrying your briefcase?” referring to the several times Dalton has been carrying one around. The PCU professor’s research has caught the attention of several characters on the show.

Jack Brennan (Chris McKenna) has recruited Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) to get as much information as she can about his research. Emma Scorpio-Drake (Braedyn Bruner) has been suspicious of him since they were both at the same California college. She plans on trying to seduce him, which concerns her close friend Gio Palmieri (Giovanni Mazza). Meanwhile, her grandmother Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) has been making acquaintances with Dalton and is suspicious of him, too. Dalton is also friends with Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota), which has added to the professor’s mystery.

Goddard recently posted on Instagram, showing his gratitude for being in Port Charles. Clearly, he enjoys the intrigue, and there is still plenty to come as the story unfolds. Are his experiments unlawful and dangerous? Will he try to take advantage of Emma or Joss? Or is Dalton just a misunderstood good guy who is trying to help the world? Time will tell.
