As General Hospital characters celebrated the holidays, many couples celebrated their love together, whether it was established married couples or new pairings just discovering their feelings for each other.
Romance went missing on the show for long stretches at a time on General Hospital in 2025. However, the New Year’s Eve episode of December 30th, in particular, put several couples in the spotlight as Port Charles rang in the new year with the city’s annual fireworks show.
As the calendar turns to 2026, these General Hospital couples will have more romantic moments as we rapidly approach Valentine’s Day. But all is not happy for some General Hospital characters, who may enter New Year’s Eve resolving to find some new romance in 2026. Here are four that could use a break.
Josslyn Jacks

Love or hate her new career as a WSB agent, it has cost Josslyn her boyfriend Vaughn (Bryce Durfee), whose current whereabouts are unknown after the WSB took him away. She is still recovering from the death of Dex Heller (Evan Hofer) and she has yet to find out that her mother Carly (Laura Wright) knows she is a WSB agent and is playing her boss Jack Brennan (Chris McKenna).
General Hospital's legacy heroine has had a rough time of it in romance. She lost her boyfriend Oscar (Garren Stitt) to cancer, and her other young love Cameron (William Lipton) is in California with a new girlfriend. With most other characters in her age group happily paired up at the moment, it would be nice to see Josslyn have some true happiness. Whether it’s Cameron coming back to Port Charles, Adam Wright (Josh Benard) returning as a better man to woo her, or a new character, maybe it’s time Joss stops courting danger and starts being courted again, period.

Ric Lansing
The conniving lawyer and father of Molly Lansing-Davis (Kristen Vaganos) will probably have a lot to do in Port Charles in 2026. There is always legal trouble for some characters to sort out. And the show is making a big deal of Ric’s burgeoning truce with his half-brother Sonny (Maurice Benard). Ric's presence on the canvas was one of the best things on the show this year, so it would be fun to see him involved in more chaos and romance.
Romantically, Ric had something good going with Ava (Maura West) until their blackmail scheme went bust, she bonked him on the head with a paperweight, and he ended up in Alexis’s shelter (Nancy Lee Grahn). And Molly doesn’t yet know that Kristina (Kate Mansi) caused the car accident that nearly killed him, and that he and Ava have covered that up, blackmailing Alexis along the way. That secret will come out eventually with fireworks following.
When Ric wasn’t romancing Ava on General Hospital, he was flirting with his ex Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) and doing favors for her, and arguing with Alexis, another ex. Ric could spend 2026 trying to make time with Ava again, try to make something happen with another ex, Nina (Cynthia Watros), or even find someone new to spark with. Maybe Justine Turner? (Nazneen Contractor). That could cause tension with his brother as he and the acting district attorney build their friendship. Imagine Ric and Sonny fighting over the same woman? That would cause fireworks in the new year, for sure.

Kristina Corinthos-Davis
Now that Molly is starting a new romance on General Hospital, her sister may find herself wanting to explore love on her own again. Kristina is more than a year removed from losing Sam (Kelly Monaco) and baby Irene (AKA Adela to her), and she's on the other side of the scandal and fallout from cutting Ric’s brake lines (at least until Molly finds out about it). Kristina could realize she’s at a time in her life where she could find love again.
There are many ways this could happen. The simplest, of course, is for Alison/Blaze (Jacqueline Grace Lopez) to return to Port Charles during a break in her world tour. She and Kristina could decide to explore their relationship again. Blaze could and should get involved with her brother Marco (Adrian Anchondo) and his father Sidwell’s (Carlo Rota) evil schemes at Wyndemere.
Kristina could meet a new character and start a friendship. Or, her ex, Parker Forsyth (Ashley Jones) could come back to Port Charles for a while. Some fans had a problem with the age and power gaps in that relationship when Kristina was Parker’s college student, but that would be much less of an issue now that Kristina has grown and matured.
Or there’s another possibility. What about Jacinda Bracken (Paige Herschell)? Some fans noticed a spark between them during their recent bubbly conversation at the Brown Dog bar. The two have become fast friends, and Kristina supports what Jacinda is doing for Michael (Rory Gibson). We know next to nothing about Jacinda’s background, romantic past, family, and especially how and why she became an escort. She may have dealt with domestic abuse and violence in her past, similar to Kristina.
What if in the course of becoming better friends with Kristina, Jacinda realizes she’s attracted to Michael’s sister? That would be the exact thing Kristina experienced when she was falling for Parker 10 years ago, and it could be an engaging and emotional story to have Kristina experience the other side of that situation and help Jacinda figure herself out, like Parker and Blaze did for her.
Elizabeth Webber

Liz was doing well with her second chance with Lucky on General Hospital, until Jonathan Jackson left the show. But since then, the General Hospital head nurse hasn’t had a lot to do besides be a good friend to everyone. Having her reunite with Ric would be fun. Have her compete with Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) for Jason (Steve Burton), or have her spark with anyone, even a new character. Certainly long-running fans of General Hospital’s favorite nurse would enjoy seeing her in an epic love affair again.
