Erika Slezak is coming to General Hospital in what for now is a mystery role, but we can't see her as anyone but Victoria Lord Riley Buchanan, et al. The actress and the role are just too iconic — and for good reason. Here's why we need Viki in Port Charles.
General Hospital's Lulu has dropped some hints
It seems pointless for Lulu Spencer (Alexa Havins) to land a writing gig at The Llanview Banner, talk about Viki as her editor, and then not bring Viki to Port Charles while casting Slezak as someone else. That would be all sorts of wrong. First, fans were super excited the first time Lulu mentioned Viki and The Banner. Second, fans were even more excited when Slezak's impending arrival was announced last week.
Why resurrect a character just with mentions if the legendary actress who won a whopping SIX Daytime Emmys playing her for over 40 years will soon be on screen? Will Lulu name-drop her editor again in a scene with Slezak playing someone else? If so, then General Hospital has gone off the rails, and we really can't see GH going off the rails that hard and that fast.
A little bit of Llanview in our lives
Port Charles, Pine Valley, and Llanview all exist in the same universe, despite Port Charles being in Upstate New York. We know Pennsylvania is not far as Anna and Felicia were easily able to travel to Pine Valley last year, plus Sonny woke up on the Pennsylvania side of the river in Nixon Falls. (Never mind that he fell off a foot bridge in Secaucus, NJ, which does not actually have a PA side of the river, but that's enough nitpicking.)
One Life to Live characters have been showing up in Port Charles since OLTL left the airwaves more than a decade ago. Blair Cramer (Kassie DePaiva) made a 2023 appearance, and Blair was even mentioned last week. We also know Sasha (Sofia Mattsson) spent some time in Llanview as she mentioned that she and Holly (Emma Samms) ran a con on David Vickers (Tuc Watkins).
Viki is one formidable woman, so it will also be glorious to see her go toe-to-toe with other strong PC females like Laura Collins (Genie Francis), Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn), Anna Devane (Finola Hughes), and especially, Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot).

In the end, bringing Viki to Port Charles will feel a little bit like a friend coming home, even if she is in a different soap town. And maybe, if this visit is a success, ABC might think long and hard about doing something with two soaps they once again own that never should have left the airwaves.
