It's been a very, very bad year for General Hospital's Willow Tait, but a very, very good year for Katelyn MacMullen, who has been taking Willow places she has never been before. MacMullen has transformed the character from the sweet, demure (yet feisty) school teacher she was seven years ago to the erratic, shrewish, hysterical nurse that she is today.
This week, Willow had another setback when she was sent to prison for the attempted murder of the man she claims to love. Willow swears she didn't do it, and we believe her. (We think another version of Willow pulled the trigger, but that's a whole other story.) As Willow went through another emotional and life-changing week, Katelyn MacMullen earned Soap Central's performer of the week honors.
Another courtroom meltdown for Willow Tait

When Willow lost her children during a custody battle last spring, MacMullen gave a tour de force performance as Willow lost it and ended up passed out in a catatonic state by the end of the episode. This week, Willow erupted in court again as she realized her mother was about to sell her down the river and recant her false alibi.
MacMullen showed us Willow's shock and desperation as Willow realized Nina (Cynthia Watros) was about to betray her. In that moment, she realized she was alone, even if Drew (Cameron Mathison) was hovering over her shoulders.
Willow's anger came out in full force as she was carted off to Pentonville. She told Nina she would hate her forever, and we believed her. That's how powerful MacMullen's performance was.
Willow's resolve remains strong on General Hospital

By the time we saw Willow again, when she met with her new lawyer at Pentonville, the sweet and composed school teacher was back. Willow had composed herself while also showing compassion for Scout (Cosette Abinante) and Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) and the predicament Drew had left them all in.
MacMullen slipped right into the Willow people could root for with ease, which also showed just how unstable Willow really is as she shows different personas to different people. When Chase (Josh Swickard) arrived, the 2018 Willow was back. The one who knew what she had to do, but who wouldn't burn every bridge and stab any back to achieve her goals.
We see now that Willow is a chameleon when she has to be, and MacMullen brings every version of Willow to life to perfection.
