General Hospital's Liesl Obrecht went through all the emotions in just two days this past week, and Kathleen Gati was on fire. From her sheer delight to running into Rocco and Outback to her sheer shock at seeing her allegedly dead daughter before her eyes, alive and well, Gati captured Liesl's journey to perfection, earning her Soap Central honors as Performer of the Week.
Liesl gets the shock of her life

Liesl Obrecht has often been a polarizing figure in Port Charles, originally introduced as Cesar Faison's (Anders Hove) partner in crime, a mad scientist who played games with people's lives. She has served her time, been on the run, and even brainwashed Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) via magic pen, turning him into a would-be assassin. But through it all, Gati has always humanized her, especially in scenes with her daughter, Britt (Kelly Thiebaud).
We'll never forget Liesl's rage and sorrow when Britt supposedly died in her arms nearly three years ago. The Liesl whom Gati brought back to Port Charles this past summer was a calmer version, who still brought all the charm and comic relief we've always adored.
However, when Liesl heard Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) utter the word "Britt," she was anything but calm. She turned around and promptly fainted when she saw her Britta. After coming to, Liesl absorbed the shock of the moment as Gati expressed every emotion a mother would feel upon seeing their child alive and well, after grieving them for more than two years.
Liesl's joy turns to rage on General Hospital

When Liesl and Nina (Cynthia Watros) got Britt back to Nina's place, Liesl wasn't playing around. She wasn't going to let Britt get away with a nap and no explanation, so Britt confessed that she faked her own death, and Liesl's demeanor changed on a dime.
Gait let out every bit of pent-up rage Liesl had felt since 2023 after Britt seemingly took her last breath in her mother's arms. How dare Britt torture her loved ones this way? When she finally let loose and slapped Britt clear across the face, as mothers, we cheered. Britt was wrong to do what she did, and we had to watch Liesl's anguish and mourning while Britt was off doing scientific research at a five-star European resort.
Kathleen Gati always delivers, and we can't wait to see what she does next week when her rage against Britt continues.
