What happened on General Hospital

Curtis and Jordan laid in bed together after making love and wished each other a Happy New Year. She didn’t want to head into a reunion that would make the same mistakes they had made in the past.
Curtis wondered how their relationship crumbled to begin with. They believed their relationship could survive anything, but it didn’t. To prevent a recurrence, they needed to make each other a priority from the jump.
Cody made a pancake breakfast for him and Molly to share, and was pleasantly surprised when he came downstairs wearing his shirt. Cody wanted to ensure that Molly didn’t think he was a bad influence. Molly had no regrets about their time together, which was a great relief for Cody.
James entered the stables with Felicia and asked Cody why he was carrying Molly. They explained why he was carrying Molly without revealing the truth. Felicia reminded Cody that James’s riding lesson had been moved to that day, which is what brought them there.
Molly agreed to take a break and visit her mother. This would give James time for his riding lesson, completely blocking any intimate intentions that Cody had.
Alexis decided to make a strategic shift and focus on Michael's suspicion. She wanted to present one clear view of what took place at Drew’s house on the night of the shooting. Alexis needed to prove that Michael’s alibi was a lie and that he was at Drew’s when he was shot. He was lying, and she was going to prove it.
Kristina got her hands on Alexis’ trial paperwork when her mother wasn’t around. Alexis reentered the room, and Kristina accused her of framing Michael for a crime that he didn’t commit. Alexis defended her decision to pursue Michael as a potential suspect.
Alexis looked into every aspect of the case and thought the police should have arrested Michael, not Willow. She thought there was enough reasonable doubt to place Michael at the scene of the crime.
Kristina claimed that Drew was responsible for the anonymous note that put Michael at Drew’s house when he was shot. Kristina was furious at her mother, but Alexis stood her ground about her duty as an attorney. She needed to do this for Scout and for Sam’s memory. Her granddaughter needed her.
Alexis pleaded with Kristina not to warn Michael about her new strategy. They needed to think of Scout and allow Michael, a grown man, to handle his own business.
Laura asked Charlotte to come over and watch Ace since she was called away on mayoral duty, and the sitter cancelled. She wasn’t sure how long she’d be, and Charlotte suggested taking Ace outside. Laura gave a confused look, which prompted Charlotte to ask whether she was afraid Valentin might pop by.
Charlotte reminded her grandmother that she had a police detail and that the WSB was placing her under constant surveillance. She insisted that she’d never place Ace in danger. Charlotte also told Laura that she didn’t think Valentin planned to approach her at all.
Laura explained that she only hesitated because Ace had become a handful. She trusted Charlotte, but Ace was in an exploratory phase that could become even more complicated in public. Charlotte vowed to keep a watchful eye on Ace, which led Laura to agree to the park trip.
Ezra dropped by Laura’s house for a short visit with updated instructions from Sidwell. He revealed that Sidwell wanted helipads on the piers and at Spoon Island. Laura was vehemently opposed to the idea, which Ezra hoped he could take back to Sidwell and use to take her down. He promised her that she needed to give in to the demands because Sidwell could be dangerous.
Ezra planned to take a public stand against the helipads, so Laura could take the fall for allowing them. Laura was entirely disgusted and asked him if he ever cared about the people of Port Charles. Eztra was shocked that Laura had ethics and found them inconvenient to the grandfather plan. However, before leaving her home, he was adamant that Laura somehow would find a way to still do good in the world.
Sidwell summoned Marcus to Bobbie’s and wondered if Alexis had done too much damage to Willow’s case. Marco defended Alexis’ credibility as a lawyer, citing the Portia debacle as a rare mistake. Sidwell worried that Drew wouldn’t be reelected, especially with the blackmail charges potentially looming.
Sidwell thought Laura was convincing in making Sonny sell the piers to him, so it made sense to the public. He wanted to ensure that Laura never forgot what she stood to lose. Sidwell received a call from someone and stepped outside to take it. Before departing, Jordan and Curtis arrived at Bobbie’s, prompting some questioning from Curtis.
Jordan admitted that Sidwell was a decent boss, but she confirmed she still had a secret agenda against him. Curtis took in that information and promised to be there for her if she needed him regarding her job with Sidwell. She knew the job would end eventually, so she wanted to enjoy it until she took him down.
Outside Bobbie’s, Sidwell encountered Charlotte and Ace and quickly let them know he knew exactly who their grandmother was. Marco joined them and introduced himself to the two kids. They joked about Wyndemere being a spooky place to live, and Ace asked to leave. Charlotte didn’t want to interact with the two any further.
Sidwell made a comment about how kids Ace’s age could be too trusting, which spooked Charlotte, and she vowed it would never happen. After they were gone, Sidwell told his son that he could use Valentin as an asset, and Charlotte was key to drawing him out.
Justine asked Dante if someone at the PCPD could have tampered with the footage. Dante believed it was possible, and Justine ordered him to look into everything. He reminded her that Willow’s phone pinged near Drew’s house when the shooting occurred. However, without the traffic cam footage, they needed to start from scratch.
Justine wanted to consider Michael a suspect, but she also needed further clarification on Curtis’ dealings with Selina Wu. Before they dove deeper into the suspect pool, Suzanne dropped by the office and handed them an updated witness list for the defense. Justine immediately wondered what Alexis’ new strategy might be.
Justine knew that Alexis planned to paint a picture that Dante was too biased to zero in on Michael as a suspect. Dante asked if she was worried about it, but she wasn't. She told Dante to be honest and transparent, and if he stuck to the facts, the jury would buy it. Justine thought Alexis had already dug her own grave.
Dante heard what occurred with Portia, and Justine felt bad for the disgraced doctor. Willow not taking the stand might make her look suspicious, so Justine felt like there was a lot working against Alexis. Dante asked if Justine thought Willow was actually guilty.
Michael dropped by Sonny’s house, where his father gave him a heads-up about a vibe he got from Justine when they met at Cafe Cherie. He asked his father what led him to spend time with the ADA. Sonny happened to run into her, so he greeted her before leaving.
Michael found it bizarre that Sonny was on a first-name basis with Justine. Sonny insisted that Michael would be a target of both Justine and Alexis, so he needed to stay on guard. Sonny explained that Justine planned to make Michael tear Willow down as a person so they could bury Willow.
Michael didn’t know what the downside was, and although destroying her was fine for him, Sonny didn't want that for his grandchildren. Michael said Willow chose Drew over him and the kids, and he wanted them to know that he wasn’t going to turn his back on them. Willow placed herself before her children, and Michael wanted them to know he’d do anything to protect them.
Michael gave a list of reasons why he could’ve been the shooter and framed his ex-wife. However, he didn’t give Sonny a clear answer. What he did say, though, was how he blamed himself for destroying her with his testimony.
Later, Charlotte opened up to Laura about her interaction with Sidwell. The news rattled Laura, who realized how easily he could reach her family. She was left paralyzed with fear, and the fight against him was far from over. Laura asked whether Charlotte knew Sidwell, and Charlotte confirmed she didn’t. Charlotte was uncomfortable with Sidwell's reference to how easily Ace could have been kidnapped.
