What happened on General Hospital

As Laura sat in her office waiting election results, Jordan walked in. They discussed both Rocco and the incident with Dalton at the polls. Laura was also not surprised that Boyle had an early lead. Jordan reminded Laura that her strongest precincts hadn't reported yet.
Laura apologized to Jordan for letting her go undercover with Sidwell when she might not have a job to come back to. Jordan felt she'd failed Laura cause she had found no evidence against Sidwell. Before they could say much more, Drew hobbled in.
Drew was as horrific and obnoxious as always, taunting Laura and asking if she was working on her concession speech. Jordan accused Drew of not caring about the people of Port Charles and wondered what had happened to him. After Jordan left, Laura had her say.
"I have come to terms with the likelihood that I am going to lose this office and if that happens, and if that happens, it would be up to you to protect the people of Port Charles," she said. "I appreciate your faith in me," Drew responded, seemingly affected by her words.
"It's not faith. I'm appealing to the man you used to be," she told him. Drew then ruined the moment by asking Laura to endorse Boyle in her concession speech. Laura reminded Drew that Sidwell has Boyle in his pocket. Drew recalled Sidwell telling him to do as he said, so Drew told Laura that Sidwell was "just a civic-minded businessman."
Laura accused Drew of being motivated by spite against Sonny, Jason, and Michael. "I was thrilled for you the night you were elected. I never thought that you would use the power that the voters gave you to target people you don't like. That's not what you were elected to do," she said. Drew offered the "all politicians are corrupt" trope, accusing Laura of also abusing her position.
Before they could say much more, Jordan returned with excellent news. Sometimes voters do choose the decent (female) human being over the undeniably and hopelessly corrupt.
At the hospital, Gio and Emma were relieved that Ned seemed to be on the road to recovery. They got in the elevator as Gio told Emma that what Dante said hurt, but he understood where Dante was coming from. "Dante is so pissed and for good reason," he said.
Josslyn met up with Vaughn at the Brown Dog, where he directed her to approach Dalton at the bar. Josslyn sidled up beside Dalton and feigned surprise at seeing him. He offered her a drink and welcomed the company, as he slurred his words. They discussed the lab break-in.
"I mean, he broke into my lab, so what was I supposed to do? The mayor, you should have seen the way she treated me," Dalton slurred. Josslyn laid it on thick, saying that nobody should tamper with his important work. He drunkenly told her that the kids were looking for animals, but they wouldn't get hurt. The animals were just part of the process.
Dalton admitted that after what happened at Berkeley, he no longer does any animal testing on campus. "We can't let any of these bleeding heart students try to set the animals free," Dalton explained. Vaughn watched as Dalton put his hand on Joss' thigh.
Josslyn managed to learn that Dalton's secret lab was close to the campus and there were no neighbors, so nobody could hear the animals barking from the lab. As Josslyn continued to flirt and lay it on thick, Emma and Gio walked in and were surprised to see Joss with Dalton.
"She's a total hypocrite. She's the one who warned me about Dalton and now she's getting drinks with the guy. Knowing her, it's to get her research assistant position back," Emma accused.
Back at the bar, Josslyn suggested that she and Dalton leave together. He suggested they try out the comfortable couch in his lab. As they tried to leave, Gio stopped them. He asked them to their table, so Joss told Dalton she'd be right back.
Emma asked Joss how she could be with Dalton after what he did to Rocco. Joss was confused, so Emma told her what had happened. When Dalton tried to get Joss to leave, Emma got in his face.
"You should be locked up, not Rocco, and nobody knows that better than I do," she said. Emma continued to go off on Dalton, accusing him of testing animals at Berkeley. Dalton was surprised when Emma told him she was the one who broke into his lab in California. "And this break-in was my idea too," she said.
Dalton threatened to have Emma expelled or arrested, so she threw a drink in his face. Dalton went after Emma until Vaughn appeared and held him back and flashed his WSB badge, shocking Emma and Gio. He pulled Dalton aside and told him to come down to the station the next day.
A confused Emma asked Josslyn, "Has the WSB been investigating Dalton this entire time?" Emma realized that breaking into the lab was never necessary because Dalton was already on the WSB's radar for something bigger than animal testing. "I was wrong. And now Rocco's locked up, and it's all for nothing," she lamented.
Josslyn told her that Dalton told her he was indeed testing on animals, in a whole different lab off campus. Josslyn then left and caught up with Vaughn outside for a make-out session.
In the PCPD interrogation room, Alexis told Danny and Charlotte to just tell the truth about what happened in the lab. Alexis and Jason left the kids alone for a few minutes to discuss the situation. Jason worried that threatening Dalton with charges would get him to back down.
Alexis reminded Jason that it was up to him whether Danny went on the record or not. "You hear Danny. His mom would want him to do what's right," Jason said. He asked Alexis if she thought her strategy would work. She told him that Nathan thought the kids would make good witnesses.
In the room, Charlotte told Danny they needed to solidify their story and ensure that Rocco walked free. "Why do I think you have a way of making that happen?" Danny asked. Charlotte gave him a sly look and told him she wanted to destroy Dalton.
Charlotte was ready to lay it on thick to convince anyone that she feared Dalton because he was a danger to Rocco. Danny was highly impressed. "Your parents have no idea how much trouble you are, do they?" Danny asked. "They're on a need-to-know basis," Charlotte smiled.
Sonny joined Ric, Dante, and Lulu in Dante's office to discuss Rocco's case. Ric explained that if Danny and Charlotte confessed, Rocco stood a better chance, but Dante didn't want to sacrifice two more kids when Rocco was already in enough trouble. He didn't think he'd allow Rocco to step forward if the roles were reversed.
Ric tried to convince Dante that odds were, a judge or jury would believe Danny and Charlotte. Dante still wasn't sold. Sonny interrupted and asked Dante to hear Ric out. Ric didn't have to say much because Alexis walked in to tell them that Jason was on board.
Lulu left to talk to Charlotte before making any decisions. When Lulu got there, Charlotte insisted she could do this and everything would be okay. Lulu called Alexis and told her that the plan was on. Before they all left the PCPD, Nathan asked them how they got the key fob to the lab. Jason was surprised when Danny announced that they had taken it from Britt's purse.
Outside Dante's office, Ric warned Sonny that there was no need to make Dalton disappear because his plan was going to work.
At Wyndemere, Sidwell tried to convince Britt that he was on her side. He reminded her that he was her savior. "Without the medicine we give you, what kind of life would you be living?" he asked.
As the conversation continued, we learned Britt didn't purposely fake her own death. "One minute I was dying in my mother's arms and the next minute, I'm waking up at the Five Poppies," she said. She accused Sidwell of taking her life from her.
"How? You had already decided to leave Port Charles. We gave your life purpose and the medicine so that you could enjoy it. All we ask in return is that you finish the work that your father started," Sidwell exclaimed.
Britt reminded Sidwell that Pascal strapping a bomb to her ankle would have ruined all that. Sidwell shrugged it off, saying Pascal had overstepped. Sidwell then wondered how much Britt had told Jason about her work at the Five Poppies. She assured him Jason had no idea what she was working on.
Sidwell once again reminded Britt that he supplied her with her meds and that Jason wasn't the type to sit by her bed as she wasted away. Suddenly, a very drunk Dalton burst in, shouting that the WSB was after him. He demanded that Sidwell do something.
Sidwell informed Dalton that he had become a liability, while Britt called him a "useless tool." Sidwell chimed in with, "I'm afraid I have to agree," before stunning Britt by shooting Dalton dead.
