MOMENTS

Tracy’s request of Gio

Tracy has never shied away from sharing her disdain for Sonny but, now, she is truly worried Gio could end up being another unintended victim of Sonny’s enemies. The moment she told Gio, “I want you, after work, to go by Charlie’s Pub and see what’s left after the fire. Then, I think you should go to the hospital to visit your Aunt Kristina, where she's recovering. And, after that, I want you to go to that cemetery and visit your Uncle Morgan’s gravesite. He was 23 when he died - a year older than you. He was killed in a car bomb because of his father”, it left both Gio and Emma stunned and speechless.

Jane Elliot continues to be a force! Because of Tracy’s history and personality, it is often easy to overlook her genuine emotions. But in this moment, Elliot’s slow and intentional delivery showed us the grief and loss Tracy carries and what drives her relentless need to protect what's left of her family.

Sonny turns the tables on Turner in the interrogation room

ADA Turner began her interrogation room visit with Sonny confidently, thinking she would get him to share some information off the record. She was quickly caught off-guard, however, when Sonny used his psychological ninja skills to get under her skin. When he pointed out, “You hauled in Natalia on some trumped up charges, leveraged it against her, and then you persuaded her to give you information that might incriminate me. Might. You think you’re the one who got her killed?” Turner looked shocked and guilty at the realization that her unchecked ambition might have contributed to the loss of someone else’s life.

Maurice Benard’s delivery was strong but restrained in this scene, and the moment he leaned in to say, “You think you’re the one who got her killed,” in a loud whisper, was pitch perfect.

SCENES

Josslyn’s renewed disgust of Sonny

Josslyn’s tolerance of Sonny has been tenuous for years, but the fire at Charlie’s has swiftly knocked her back to the hating Sonny side of life. In her conversation with Vaughn (Bryce Durfee), she recounted just some of the Corinthos-related damage she’s witnessed over the years and revealed taking Sonny down was actually her primary motivation for joining the WSB.

Eden McCoy is truly such a talent! She played these scenes with restrained anger, allowing us to begin to see the hidden toll that numerous traumatic events have taken on Josslyn. As McCoy’s performance revealed a growing maturity and resolve in Joss, I feel these scenes helped usher in her full transition into a WSB agent.

Natalia’s Final Scenes

With each pill and drink she carelessly took, we could see Natalia’s life coming to a tragic end. Marco thinks he could have saved his mom, but in reality, it was pretty much too late by the time Lucas even talked him into going.

I want to restate last week’s kudos to Eva LaRue for doing her best to add complexity and nuance to a fairly one-dimensional character. Instead of playing Natalia’s last scenes for vanity, LaRue showed us how painfully sad, alone, and desperate her character was at the tragic end of her life.

NOTABLES

It’s Sonny’s world, and everyone else is just living in it.

Instead of “Marsha, Marsha, Marsha”, I am channeling my Jan Brady voice to say, “Sonny, Sonny, Sonny”. It feels like everyone has been talking about Sonny this week, and the whole town is being made to decide if they are friend or foe to their local mob boss.

Josslyn looked like the picture of sunshine in her yellow summer dress at Daisy’s christening.

Emma gave a collegiate vibe in her white knit shirt with black trim.

Maxie (Nicole Paggi) looked stylish in her black blazer with safety pins when meeting with Brook Lynn.

MUSINGS

I wonder if setting fires is Sidwell’s signature method of death and destruction, or did he just get a great promo code for incendiary devices and Molotov cocktails?

I’m liking ADA Turner’s steady glow-up. By Thursday, she looked ready to leave the PCPD and head to the clerb.

The Spencer-Corinthos and Sidwell families are getting ready to be the Montagues and Capulets of Port Charles. Will my beloved Lucas and Marco be able to survive being on opposite sides of a mob war?

Whenever I see another mob-centric storyline coming, I summon my sardonic Miranda Priestly voice - “Sonny? Mob war? Groundbreaking.

How come Sonny can’t choose Selina Wu as his successor? If the worst thing she brings is an underground Poker ring, I think Port Chuck would be alright.
