How General Hospital dropped the ball (gag) on Ric's basement predicament

When General Hospital's Ric Lansing awoke chained to a gurney in Alexis' basement with a ball gag in his mouth, we cheered and laughed, anxious for the fun that was to come. Except what came has been a whole lot of nothing.

Where the heck is Ric Lansing?

Well, we know where he is. He's in Alexis' (Nancy Lee Grahn) basement, but why don't we see him? It's been two weeks, and all we've heard is that Ric (Rick Hearst) is still in the basement, but we haven't seen him interact with his captors, which is the most exciting part of this.

During Ric's first day of confinement, we were entertained by Alexis and Kristina (Kate Mansi), each taunting Ric and letting him know he'd be tied up for about a month. We got to see him panic and were reminded of the time he kept a pregnant Carly locked in a panic room in the home he shared with Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst).

Now, all we know is that Ric is still down there, and the ladies have been plying him with sleeping pills. But we don't see them interact with him at all. In fact, Ava (Maura West) and Ric haven't shared one moment together since she whacked him over the head with that paperweight. Since Ava is the reason Ric is even in the basement, it would be nice to see a confrontation.

General Hospital skips out on fun

Not only does Ric's captivity remind us of General Hospital's panic room story 20 years ago, it also brings back memories of eight years ago when Liesl (Kathleen Gati) tied Peter August (Wes Ramsey) to a bed in the woods for an entire summer.

That was a fun story because we got to see Peter get what he deserved while Liesl reveled in his misery. We watched the plot play out rather than just hearing about it.

What was the point of introducing Ric's plight if we weren't going to actually see it? We want to watch this coven of women surround Ric while holding all the power. We want to see Ric squirm and beg to be released while they eat sweet treats in front of him and won't share.

With a setup this good, we need to see the story play out and not just hear about it.
