General Hospital's Nina Reeves finally felt that all her lifelong dreams had come true. She finally had a daughter to dote on and someone who finally called her mom. Now, all that seems ruined solely because of Nina's fears.

So close...but then so far

In the two years since Nina (Cynthia Watros) learned that Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) was her daughter, she's grown close to her twice, only to have her own mistakes ruin her relationship with the young nurse. At the start of 2024, Willow learned that Nina had ratted out Drew (Cameron Mathison) and Carly (Laura Wright) to the SEC, resulting in Drew's jail stint.

By the end of the year, Nina and Willow had grown close again, and Willow even started calling Nina mom, but another secret destroyed their newfound relationship. However, this one was not as bad — except in Willow's mind. Nina had slept with Drew before she ever knew Willow had feelings for him, but slept with him one more time after learning Willow and Drew had kissed.

Since Willow was married at the time, what her mother did behind closed doors was none of Willow's business. Nina probably should have told Willow anyway because the truth is always better than a secret that will inevitably come to light. Now that Willow knows, she wants nothing to do with Nina or Drew, but that doesn't mean Nina is willing to leave things as they are.

Cynthia Watros admits that Nina screwed up, and even Nina knows it. However, she was about to tell Willow the truth, but Curtis (Donnell Turner) beat her to it.

"Willow is understandably upset," Watros told TV Insider. "Nina tried to plead her case, where she says it was before Willow and Drew had this intimate relationship, and she didn’t know that they were developing such strong feelings for each other, but Nina understands that she should have told her, and it didn’t go well."

Things might have gone south for Nina and Willow, but hopefully, it's only a temporary setback.

"Nina will never give up," Watros explained. "She is determined and persistent in wanting to have a relationship with her daughter, so she’ll always be there. If she sees Willow, she’ll always be checking in, and whether or not her daughter is receptive to that, she’ll always keep an open heart towards her daughter, so we’ll see. I hope they come back together. I love that Nina gets to have family, because it does mean so much to her. Cynthia’s heart breaks for Nina, and to see what happens with this relationship."
