With the success General Hospital star Maurice Benard (Sonny) has had with his mental health awareness show, State of Mind, other actors have been inspired to follow suit. One of them is his co-star Laura Wright, whose character, Carly, has been intertwined with Sonny for decades, often romantically. Wright has a platform she calls Sacred Space, which is not a show but a concept she implements during Zoom meetings with fans. In line with her helping others to heal, she recently collaborated with like-minded people and shared her thoughts on a topic that’s important to women everywhere.
She’s leading the charge
General Hospital’s Laura Wright enthusiastically shared a post on Instagram that contained some pics of her at an event on a stage with three other women. She wrote, “Today was an amazing day - so grateful to be a guest of @heatherhirschmd and @thecollaborative.telemed learning so much about menopause options and busting myths around menopause care !! You do not have to suffer with menopause symptoms- the @thecollaborative.telemed specializes in hormone replacement therapy (HRT), and if that is not an option for you - they can lead you in the right direction - we do not have to suffer in silence.”
Heather Hirsch, MD, is a “Perimenopause & Middle-Life Expert,” according to her Instagram page. The General Hospital star also referenced The Collaborative, which is, “The premier integrative approach to virtual concierge care. Experts in women's health and wellness,” which was created by Hirsch. She praised Wright with, “I am honored and blessed to know you and have you be on our panel. Your insights were invaluable,” and the GH star sent “xoxox” back. Fellow GH star Katelyn MacMullen (Willow) commented with a fire and eyes with hearts emojis, writing, “Love!!!!” Castmate Risa Dorken (Amy) also shared several emojis, writing, “Awesome.”
The fans were receptive to what she shared

The fans were very receptive to Wright’s words, with @chichim77 appreciatively replying, “Thank you for speaking up! I went through years of hell before I learned that my doctors prescribing the pill and SSRIs had it all wrong. I’m 47 and finally the mom and wife I was meant to be! Unfortunately, my friends are still suffering and not as assertive as I had to be. More exposure and education is needed- thank you!”
Her followers were glad to hear what she had to say with @_curlydiane_ writing, “Was in your front row in spirit…ty for sharing…knowledge is power,” and @jillybeancooks commented, “What a gift, sharing your wisdom and journey with so many.”
And when one fan commented that they loved Wright’s pants and asked for a purchase link, she wrote back, “@sonnycarlygh they are in my shop in my bio, and there is a link in my highlights in my stories.”
General Hospital can be seen weekdays on ABC and Hulu.
