It looked like a full week of General Hospital, like any other normal week, but ABC just threw GH fans a curveball thanks to baseball. Read on for your new Port Charles schedule this week.

General Hospital's abbreviated week

As October begins, so do baseball playoffs, which ABC will be covering nationally, as was just announced by network executive Nathan Varni on X (formerly Twitter).

"Due to MLB daytime games this week, new episodes of #gh will air Monday, Thursday & Friday. Thursday is tentative based on Wed’s game results. Sorry for the interruptions, have a great week!" he wrote.

ABC will air the Detroit Tigers playing the Cleveland Guardians in all markets, disrupting General Hospital during a pivotal week when Erika Slezak's character arrives on the Quartermaine scene ready to cause trouble. This decision to pre-empt when episodes were already scheduled will push Friday cliffhangers back by 2-3 days for the foreseeable future.

ABC/Disney is choosing not to use two easy streaming options to present the scheduled episodes, including ABC.com and Hulu.

What you'll have to wait to see

GH had a big week planned, as evidenced by this week's promo, which dropped on social media not long before Varni's announcement.

Monica's will reading was scheduled for Wednesday, which was set to be a big moment with Slezak's new character. If GH is pre-empted on Thursday, the will-reading will not take place until next week. In addition, we will have to wait until next week to learn which character is pregnant, although our bets are on Portia (Brook Kerr). She was set to get life-changing news on Thursday, but she now won't get that news until next week.

GH received critical acclaim last week for the episodes focusing on Monica's memorial. The Quartermaines took center stage, with the momentum set to continue this week, but thanks to a last-minute decision to air baseball nationally, it could feel like a letdown to fans who were looking forward to a full week with their Port Charles pals.

At least GH fans have a lot to look forward to next week, as Gio (Giovanni Mazza) makes a major decision about his life, Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) nearly loses it again, and Chase makes a shocking discovery.
