Wally Kurth has been blessed to have iconic ancestors and been part of big, memorable families during his current regular gigs on both General Hospital and Days of Our Lives.
On Days of Our Lives, his character Justin Kiriakis is the nephew of the deceased legend Victor Kiriakis (John Aniston). Justin has several sons and grandchildren and is related to numerous characters on the canvas.
On General Hospital, his Ned Quartermaine regularly matches wits and schemes with his mother, Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot). Ned is the grandson of Edward and Lila Quartermaine and has a lot of family in the Q mansion and beyond.
General Hospital, Days of Our Lives star Wally Kurth enjoys his family on and off set
When he’s not on either set, Kurth enjoys a major legacy of his own. His mother, Susie Kurth, turned 101 years old on June 15.
Kurth marked the occasion by posting two pictures of her on Instagram, one featuring him with her, and another of his brother Sid and his wife Evie. In the caption, Kurth said they have been her devoted caregivers for years.
Kurth wrote: “Happy Birthday to my indomitable 101 year old mother. Wow. Those rosy cheeks are hers as well as her beautiful soul. Her five children feel her blessings each and every day.”
Costars from both of his shows sent happy wishes to his mother.
From Days of Our Lives, Stephen Nichols (Patch) said, “Beautiful, Wally!” then shared that his own mother lived to be 105 years old.
Emily O’Brien (Theresa/Gwen) said, “Aw bless her, how beautiful! And you’re her spitting image, too!” Martha Madison (Belle) also saw a resemblance, commenting, “You look so much like her.”
From General Hospital, Kurth’s TV son, Easton Rocket Sweda (Leo), commented, “Happiest of Birthdays to you!!” Tanisha Harper (Jordan), commented “Incredible!” while former co-star on both shows, Sarah Joy Brown (ex-Clauda, ex-Carly, ex-Madison James), said “Beautiful, so sweet, Wally!”
Wally Kurth was born in Billings, Montana. He became interested in music and drama from an early age, earning a role in a local theater production at age 11. He received a degree from UCLA in 1985 and debuted as Justin on Days of Our Lives in 1987. Later, he began as Ned Ashton on General Hospital in 1991.
While Kurth is having a happy homelife, he has plenty of family drama to deal with on both shows. Currently on GH, Ned found out he has a grandson in Gio Palmieri (Giovanni Mazza) while processing the fact that his daughter Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) had never told him that she was pregnant as a teenager.

When he’s not on set, Kurth goes on tour with the Day Players, a musical group with him and Days of Our Lives co-stars Carson Boatman, Eric Martsolf, and Brandon Barash.
