Drew might be playing a careful game on General Hospital — trying to forge an alliance with Ronnie that could implode if Laura has anything to say about it — but off-screen, Cameron Mathison’s heart was somewhere far more personal this week. On the anniversary of his mother’s death, he shared a glimpse of both his grief and the love that still shapes his life today.

A son’s tribute

Cameron Mathison wrote on Instagram, “4 years today since we lost my mom. She fought such a brave battle with brain cancer, and even through it all, she never stopped smiling. Just the most loving, devoted mom — always there for her sons, always giving, always full of light. She spent her life caring for others, working for the Ministry of Health of Ontario, and somehow still had endless love left for her family. Miss you every day, Mom. Yellow roses for you… your favorite.”

Along with those words, the General Hospital star shared a carousel of photos capturing moments throughout their lives together — from family vacations and childhood snapshots to hospital visits, holidays, and a final shot of him and others with their arms around each other overlooking the ocean.

Days of Our Lives’ Greg Rikaart (Leo) wrote, “Beautiful tribute to your beautiful mom, Cameron. Sending you and yours lots of love.” The Bold and the Beautiful’s Rebecca Budig (Taylor) commented, “Love you, Cammy.” DAYS’ Jen Lilley (Theresa) wrote, “Love you SO very much, Cameron! Honored to call you a friend. I know your mom is SO proud of you.” General Hospital castmate Rory Gibson (Michael) shared heart emojis, as did Katelyn MacMullen (Willow), Asher Antonyzyn (Danny), Brook Kerr (Portia), and Tanisha Harper (Jordan). Messages poured in from all over. @connect2self wrote, “Same bright smile.” @andi.lew said, “Giving you a big hug. She keeps living on in you. She’s so beautiful. What an angel.” @j_p_myers added, “Sending so much love.” @lalamoyer wrote, “Big hugs your way, my friend. Her beautiful soul is radiating through these photos, what a wonderful tribute.”

Through every memory, every heart, every rose — Mathison's post became less a goodbye and more a love letter that continues. (Find out about Mathison’s other tearful goodbye.)

General Hospital can be seen weekdays on ABC and Hulu.
