Finola Hughes’ General Hospital character Anna has been working hard to maintain law and order in Port Charles. While her job can be exhausting and dangerous, Hughes is having the time of her life, enjoying 40 years as the superspy-turned-police commissioner. She recently shared with her fans a blast from the past in the form of a doll made to look exactly like her character from the film Staying Alive. Now she’s shared her heartbreaking thoughts over the tragic death of a rock and roll icon.

He was wonderful

On Instagram, General Hospital's Hughes paid tribute to rocker Mike Peters, who was part of the Welsh new wave pop band of the 1980s, The Alarm. She posted a couple of pics of him and captioned them, “So very sorry to hear about the passing of Mike Peters of The Alarm. A truly wonderful person, kind and giving, who fought hard and cared for others traveling on the same road, a tireless advocate for blood cancer survivors.”

She continued with, “We once spent a beautiful day with him & his wife in North Wales many years ago, talking about the future. He lived life well. He made people happy w his music 💕 My heartfelt condolences to Jules & his sons Dylan & Evan 🕊️.”

The band’s official web page described Peters as “The embodiment of love, hope, and strength. His indomitable spirit will live on through the three things he was most passionate about and most proud of: his family; his music, and the Love Hope Strength Foundation.” There was also a thanks to Brandon Flowers, member of the band called The Killers, who narrated a video tribute for Peters.

Fans were devastated

Several General Hospital co-stars chimed in with their condolences. Laura Wright (Carly) wrote, “I’m so sorry xoxo,” while Eva LaRue (Natalia) reacted, “I’m so sorry Finola🙏🏼♥️,” and newcomer Daniel Goddard (Professor Dalton) simply shared, “🙏🏻.”

The fans were all devastated by the news as many talked about how Peters and The Alarm touched their lives. @keywestgrrl commented, “Mike and the band came into my life when I was a miserable 16 year old and from the first song (The Stand) and album and show, they have been a rock solid positive bit of my life. Mikes talent and energy and love of life was unmatched. Just gutted by the loss and love to Jules and the boys.”

General Hospital fan @tamieadaya commented, “I loved him! I met him the early 80s when he was playing in LA and we hung out together for a couple of days. He was the sweetest, most thoughtful, charismatic and talented man,” and Hughes bittersweetly replied, “@tamieadaya I know. So lovely.”
