General Hospital's Kathleen Gati shares dramatic new project

With the impending return of Kelly Thiebaud to General Hospital, fans are wondering whether or not Britt’s mother, Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati), will also be coming back. Fans may recall that Britt died in her mother’s arms, but it’s not impossible to think that Liesl may have put her into suspended animation via the Cassadine cryo technology. Thus, she could have cured Britt from the poison that The Hook stabbed her with. But, while fans wait to see what happens next, Gati has been keeping busy with other projects, and recently announced an exciting new one.

Gati wrote on X, formerly Twitter, “Just wrapped filming as wife of #KevinDunn and opposite #CaitlinMckenna in new feature #Yale On to the next project! #actorslife #gratitude

@phirgunmair.” According to its IMDb page, the plot for the film Yale concerns, “A troubled woman must confront her deadbeat father, who abandoned her as a child, as the last-ditch effort to find a donor kidney for her dying son.” The actor, Kevin Dunn, that she mentioned, has been in a ton of films and TV shows, including the Steven Segal actioner, Marked for Death (1990), Seinfeld, and Will Trent, among many others.

Of course, the fans first and foremost pleaded for a return of Liesl to General Hospital. But @P23M_ went a step further by encouraging her appearances in other projects with the response, “Nice to see your career thriving…You stretch those acting chops, Kathleen! Looking forward to this project coming out! Still, though, we miss ‘Liesl’ over at #GH…Esp w/Kelly returning, Cynthia & Katelynn killing it as a ‘Willow’ & ‘Nina’ hot mess on screen.”

Jay Silverman is the director of the film and has worked on a few shows and movies, including 44 episodes of TV One on One and the 2025 movie, Camera. It was written by Van Billet, who also wrote 2021’s Saving Paradise. The General Hospital star plays a character named Bunny Parker, and Dunn takes on the title character of Yale Parker. She’s also joined by Caitlin McGee (Grey’s Anatomy) who plays Mackenzie 'Mac' Mitchell, Skyler Bible (The Book of Boba Fett) as Ron Williams, and Kristin Carey (S.W.A.T.) as Mildred.

Another fan, @JudyBlum1, understood that Gati needs to work when General Hospital isn’t calling, and responded, “We all miss you on GH, I know I especially do, you were a breath of fresh air, just delightful the watch. I wish they would somehow bring you back, and of course, we all miss Kin, who played Scotty also. Anyway, congrats on your projects and good luck.”
