General Hospital’s Kin Shriner channels old-school TV nostalgia with a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it guest

General Hospital’s Kin Shriner has been easing himself back into the world after a brutal year that kept him sidelined, rehabbing, and far from Port Charles. The foot surgery, the do-over, the daily grind of getting mobile again — it’s been a long road, and he’s been very open about it online.

General Hospital’s Kin Shriner delivers nostalgia

On Instagram, Shriner wrote, “2 actors who did the TV show Love Boat! For those who remember.” What followed was a grainy, old-film-filtered video shot from a boat, with the Love Boat theme blaring and the camera wobbling like it had places to be. Shriner panned past the scenery, past the water, past a man you almost miss entirely — B-Movie star, Andrew Stevens — before circling back just long enough for him to say, “Yeah, we, we both did the love boat,” and moving on. If you blinked, you missed it. If you paused, there he was.

The chaos was the whole point. Fans immediately loved it, as @elliesullivanrocks hilariously summed up the experience perfectly: “It would be nice if you held the camera on him for more than a millisecond 😂.” @josephcostantino went deep into muscle-memory nostalgia, recalling seeing Shriner and Stevens at a Sherman Oaks gym in the ’80s, basketball games and all, adding, “I’ll never forget the language!” Several others chimed in with straight-up affection. @blu324 wrote, “The Love Boat was the best!” while @giseashell kept it simple: “Happy New Year, you look amazing!”

Fun, support, and a lot of love

What’s striking wasn’t just the reference, it was the response. The comments were less about the show itself and more about Shriner. @glamperjan jumped straight to business with, “You need to come back and defend Michael!” Noting the fans’ collective worry that Michael (Rory Gibson) will end up being accused of shooting Drew (Cameron Mathison), and Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) will walk away, scot-free.

Others focused on his recovery, his presence, and the fact that he’s out there enjoying himself again. Hearts, prayers, and clapping hands were abundant. His good buddy, Andrew Stevens, built a gloriously uneven B-movie career playing smooth operators, corrupt suits, and vaguely dangerous men who always looked like they knew exactly where the money was and why you shouldn’t ask too many questions.

Shriner didn’t over-explain the post, and he didn’t need to. The shaky video, the barely framed guest, the old-school filter, all of it felt intentional in its looseness. A quick reminder that some memories don’t need a spotlight. They just need to drift past once, let the right people notice, and keep right on moving.

General Hospital can be seen weekdays on ABC and Hulu.
