Long before they became one of daytime’s favorite real-life couples, General Hospital’s Laura Wright (Carly) and Wes Ramsey (ex-Peter) first crossed paths years earlier while working together on the CBS soap Guiding Light. Though they didn’t share much screen time back then, their connection endured long after the cameras stopped rolling. Years later, both landed in Port Charles, and their friendship evolved into something deeper. Interestingly, when Ramsey joined the show as Peter August, he and Wright’s Carly rarely crossed paths on-screen, even as their off-screen relationship quietly blossomed. Since then, they’ve shared their journey on social media, and Wright recently had cause to celebrate.

A fun trip was had

General Hospital’s Laura Wright wrote on Instagram, “I’d never seen it, but I found this love, I’m gonna feed it, you better believe I’m gonna treat it better than anything I’ve ever had ‘cause you’re so damn beautiful. Read it, it’s signed and delivered, let’s seal it.” She continued by analogizing her and Ramsey: “Boy, we go together like peanuts and Paydays, Marley and reggae. And everybody needs to get a chance to say...Happy Happy Birthday to my Handsome Fella, I love our life - you’re simply the best!!!! From Kimba, too. Xoxoxox.” (Check out the love letter Ramsey wrote to Wright.)

Ramsey responded, “I love you baby. Thank you…” Steve Burton’s (Jason) wife, Michelle Lundstrom, chimed in with, “Happy birthday Wes!!” while former General Hospital star Ingo Rademacher (ex-Jax) enthusiastically wrote, “Well that looks like a fun trip. How awesome!”

Fans were beyond happy for them

The General Hospital star also included several pictures in the post. The photos captured the enjoyable time they often have together, and one of the more playful shots had the couple in top hats, Ramsey grinning with a cigar in hand. Another featured him lounging fully clothed in a sleek white bathtub — a mix of humor and calm that felt quintessentially him. There was even a candid of Ramsey napping on a flight, capped off by a sunny lake photo that could’ve been pulled straight from a postcard.

The fans couldn’t get enough of the two, with @abboudjulie writing, “Happy Birthday Wes,” while @wendyhorvath added, “Happy Birthday! We adore you! @wes_ramsey.” One General Hospital fan, @grace_f_814, shared, “Love Love the Pic's Happy Birthday..” and @mepalazzolo chimed in, “Happy birthday! So glad you found each other.” Fans couldn’t help but gush over their connection, with @lenny0626 posting, “You two are so freakin cute,” and @judylynncarter adding, “The cutest couple.”

Others took the chance to send their own heartfelt messages directly to Ramsey. @ladan.amir8 cheered, “Happy Birthday, Wes. Wishing you an amazing and filled with adventures year,” while @michelem38 wrote, “Happy Birthday, Wes. That was really beautiful what Laura wrote to you. She is an extraordinary person inside and out.” And @creativepiya4 said, “Happy Birthday, Wes!! You and Laura are so lucky to have each other!! Love you both!! Love these photos!!”

From longtime soap watchers to casual followers, the sentiment was the same — Wright and Ramsey’s love story still makes fans believe in happy endings, both on-screen and off.
