With the return of the Nurses’ Ball on General Hospital comes the anticipation that secrets will be revealed, fights will break out, and general chaos will ensue. Lucy Coe (Lynn Herring) has not only spearheaded the Nurses’ Ball since its inception, but she’s also been the emcee for most of them. Beyond the ball, Lucy’s been involved with several men over the years, but her love life lately has been non-existent, and Herring discussed what’s going on with her beloved character.
Lucy’s savvier than before

Herring was a guest on the Michael Fairman Channel, and was asked if Lucy was aware of what she was doing or just had no idea that Sidwell (Carlo Rota), who underwrote the Ball, was a really bad guy. Herring excitedly remarked, “He's actually so much fun to work with! That’s my problem right now. We had scenes today, and we were laughing about how we had no idea where this storyline is going, cause ‘I'm so bad,’ he kept saying as Sidwell. And I thought, though, we have so much fun and chemistry without meaning to, that we’re creating this vortex—that may go nowhere, but we really enjoy each other. He’s a lot of fun to work with,” she chuckled.
She explained that Lucy has “gotten a little more savvy than sometimes she acts,” which would explain how she got baddie Sidwell to underwrite the whole Ball. She stated that while Lucy pretends to be dumb, she might be on top of things with Sidwell. When asked if Lucy would want to be romantically involved with Sidwell, Herring answered, “I don't know. You know, I've been thinking about her being alone, which is a long stretch for Lucy.” (Take a look at what’s going to happen at the Nurses’ Ball.)
What about Kevin, Scotty, and Martin?

The General Hospital star reflected on Lucy’s past romances, stating, “Obviously, Kevin Collins [Jon Lindstrom] was her true love and made her grow up and be an adult.” She then went on to Michael E. Knight’s character, Martin Grey, noting, “And then Martin was fascinating because it was that same kind of titillation, you know, of like minds. I don't think he really could have put up with her for much longer, so I get that.”
While she stated that Kevin is Lucy’s one true love, many fans feel Scotty Baldwin, played by the beloved Kin Shriner, is really who she’s meant to be with. She brought him up, stating, “Scotty will always be her con in her heart.” She further noted that Lucy is working on becoming a better businesswoman and garnering some respect socially, noting, “She's so desperate to be liked by the community.”
Then, reflecting further on Lucy’s love life, Herring stated, “I think at some point she's going to realize she's alone, and that's when it'll get interesting.
A new love interest for Lucy will make for some great stories, and we can’t wait to see who her next suitor will be!
