From conquering his fears to killing it as Sonny, General Hospital’s Maurice Benard has been extremely busy lately. He’s been traveling around the country, performing for fans everywhere, and doesn’t seem to stop. But he did stop recently to smell the roses and pay tribute to his wife on a special milestone that the couple has achieved.
His real leading lady
General Hospital star Maurice Benard wrote on Instagram, “It’s our anniversary. What does that mean? It means being with someone for 40 years who has never wavered, always there for me and our children. Has never made me feel small, when in need always says to me (you are stronger than you know).” He ended with a loving touch for his wife, Paula, writing, “Thank you, sweetheart, for being the rock and holding it all together.” He included several photos of him and Paula throughout the years, illustrating how they’ve grown as a couple.
Rick Hearst, who plays Sonny’s estranged brother, Ric Lansing, wrote, “The queen! Happy Anniversary, Mo! Many more,” and Benard replied with a heart emoji. Kimberly McCullough, who played Robin Scorpio on General Hospital, commented, “Paula - ICON.” Benard replied to her with, “@kimmeabreak yes, she is.” Former GH star Rebecca Budig, who played Hayden Barnes and now plays Taylor on The Bold and the Beautiful, wrote, “Amazing. Congratulations!” And more co-stars chimed in as Lisa LoCicero (Olivia) commented, “Goddess…you lucked out Mo…🔥,” and Tanisha Harper (Jordan) enthusiastically wrote, “Yay! Happy anniversary!”
A love story that inspires

TV host Rachel Weaver responded, “Happy Anniversary to one of my most favorite couples!” Another follower, @tumbleweednana, who adores Paula, wrote, “Gorrrrrrrrgeous woman ❤️ 40 years is magnificent. Happy Anniversary.” Brian Gaskill, who played Seth on The Young and the Restless, commented, “Congratulations!” That was just the tip of the iceberg for the congratulatory remarks that came in from all of Benard’s followers.
Another General Hospital fan, @mcdanielida, commented, “Happy Anniversary, may God continue to bless you with many more happy years to go.” Another co-star, Lydia Look, who plays rival mobster Selina Wu, wrote simply, “Love!” along with several heart emojis. @lovinglaynealways responded with, “Congratulations to you both. She’s incredible, and so are you, Maurice. To another 100 years. Auguri.” Auguri is Italian for congratulations, and there was no shortage of well-wishes from Benard’s adoring family and fans. And actress Anna Damergis lovingly chimed in with, “Happy Anniversary to the most beautiful couple on the planet! Your relationship is a true inspiration to others! Wishing you a continued lifetime of good health and happiness! Andrew & I are blessed to be a part of your lives.”
General Hospital can be seen weekdays on ABC and Hulu.
