The series is based on the real-life story of Lipton’s band of the same name, and the cast includes other members of the band. It is described on IMDB as “A high school band graduates and attempts to achieve fame and success in the music industry.”

Lipton is prominently featured in the trailer as the lead singer of the band. He captioned his Instagram post, “So beyond excited to share this one!!!! Watch The Runarounds on Prime Video out September 1st.”

His General Hospital co-stars wished him well. Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) said, “Yeah buddy!!!” Laura Wright (Carly Spencer) said, “Amazing!!!” Nicholas Alexander Chavez (ex-Spencer) said, “Hell yes x.” Eden McCoy (Josslyn Jacks) put a row of crying emojis. Brooklyn Decker, one of the most well-known members of the cast, said “Go, baby, go!!”

The band has two songs currently released on streaming platforms, and you can pre-order the official soundtrack that coincides with the series’ release on September 1.

"It's a dream come true," Lipton said in TV Insider. "Since I was a very, very young kid growing up doing acting and music, my biggest dream role was something that involved heavy music and heavy acting. I already got to experience some on General Hospital, but this show is all about the making of a band, and it's been the best."

Nick Cafero, an actor whose girlfriend is General Hospital star Kristen Vaganos (Molly Lansing-Davis) is slated to appear in at least three episodes according to IMDB. Vaganos shared the news on her Instagram Stories on August 7th, saying “(Nick) is in this!!!! … Set. Your. Calendars.”

Lipton has been playing Cameron, the oldest son of Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst), since 2018. Lipton left the show in 2023 to focus on his education at USC and the band, coinciding with Cameron’s move to California to play soccer and attend college there.

Lipton returned in 2024 for Spencer’s funeral and to see his family for the holidays.

He is a three-time Daytime Emmy nominee. In 2019 and 2022, he earned nominations for Outstanding Younger Actor. In 2020, his song “North Star” was nominated for Outstanding Original Song. He performed that at the General Hospital Nurses’ Ball.
