New Year's Day will look a little different in Port Chuck this year, as General Hospital spoilers tease a trip in the Chuckles time machine for a Luke Spencer flashback.
General Hospital honors Tony Geary

Although General Hospital has not yet announced a tribute episode to Anthony Geary, who passed away on December 14, it does plan to air the actor's last full episode as Luke Spencer on Thursday, January 1, 2026.
In this episode, Luke decides to leave Port Charles after spending some emotional time with Tracy (Jane Elliot), Sonny (Maurice Benard), Lulu (then played by Emme Rylan), and Michael (then played by Chad Duell). However, he can't quite bring himself to say a proper goodbye to Laura (Genie Francis), so he leaves her with a letter she still cherishes a decade later.
In 2017, we saw Luke again for a brief moment after Tracy left Port Charles and walked into an Amsterdam cafe. Luke spent his last years with Tracy, until he was killed in a cable car accident (or was it an accident?) in 2022.
Geary had decided to retire from acting and move to Amsterdam, just as Luke had, a city he considered a second home. That's where he lived out his last years with his husband, Claudio Gama.
A preview of Luke's last stand
This week, GH has given us a little preview of this very special episode honoring the actor who helped save the show from cancellation more than 40 years ago. We see Luke walking on the pier and giving the town he called The Chuckles one last look before boarding a boat to nowhere (and ending up in Amsterdam).
Of course, during that final moment, Luke acknowledged his home by its proper name, saying, "Goodbye, Port Charles."
As soap fans and pop culture fans know, Geary's Luke and Genie Francis' Laura put General Hospital on the map when ABC wanted to yank it from the air. They went on to become a pop culture phenomenon, with the Christopher Cross song, Think of Laura, being linked to them for decades.
When Francis learned of Geary's passing in December, she wrote, "He spoiled me for leading men for the rest of my life. I am crushed. I will miss him terribly, but I was so lucky to be his partner. Somehow, somewhere, we are connected to each other because I felt him leave last night. Good night, sweet prince, good night."
