General Hospital has had many antagonist characters over the decades. Among them is Nelle Benson, played by Chloe Lanier. Nelle's presumed dead, but Lanier is doing just great. Now, she's celebrating something pretty amazing!
Happy birthday, General Hospital star Chloe Lanier
Lanier is celebrating her birthday today, on November 2nd! The fan favorite won the 2019 Daytime Emmy in the category of Outstanding Young Actress in a Drama Series, a category that has since been retired. She first came to the attention of GH fans when she played a young Patricia Spencer (played as an adult by Dee Wallace), the sister of Bobbie (Jacklyn Zeman) and Luke Spencer (Anthony Geary).
Lanier's Patricia was seen in flashbacks, and that might have been the last we ever saw of her. However, GH kept the actress in mind when it was looking to cast the character of Nelle, the young woman who truly did donate a kidney to Josslyn (Eden McCoy). Lanier made her debut as Nelle in 2016.
Initially, she was hailed as a heroine for helping save Joss's life. It didn't take long for Nelle to reveal her true colors. It turned out she was Carly's (Laura Wright) stepsister and came to Port Charles to get revenge on Carly, not unlike when Carly showed up, hoping to get revenge on her birth mother, Bobbie.
Following Nelle's reign of terror, which included giving her and Michael's (Rory Gibson) baby to Brad (Parry Shen) and Lucas (Van Hansis) to raise, Nelle nearly let Michael die after his car crashed.
Life after Nelle's presumed death
After Nelle's presumed death (Carly could have tried a little harder to save her), Nina (Cynthia Watros) learned that Nelle was the baby she gave birth to while she was in a coma. It turned out that Nelle is actually a twin; her sister is Willow (Katelyn MacMullen).
Nelle supposedly fell to her death from a cliff, but we can't recall her body ever being identified. Lanier returned to GH in 2022 for a fantasy episode, but as of now, the character is in limbo.
Last summer, Lanier and boyfriend Josh Kelly (Cody) appeared at a GH fan event featuring Rick Hearst (Ric) and Becky Herbst (Elizabeth).
