General Hospital co-head writers Elizabeth Korte and Chris Van Etten confirmed that Ryan Peavey will indeed be returning as the presumed-dead Nathan West when he starts airing on General Hospital this fall.

Korte and Van Etten talked a lot about Nathan’s impact on the canvas when they previewed everything that is coming up this fall on General Hospital in an interview with TV Insider.

Nathan was shot dead by his father, Cesar Faison (Anders Hove), in 2018, and given a full police department funeral. The writers didn't say if Nathan would come back exactly like he was before, or if there was another twist in store.

The writers said the return of Nathan, combined with the survival of his sister Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud), will cause a lot of shock and chaos when they inevitably return to Port Charles.

They said that Britt would eventually escape her captivity in Croatia, getting out from under the demands of her mysterious boss, who is ordering her to do the research.

“The full impact of Ryan’s return won’t be felt all at once, but you can bet that the Scorpios and his many friends will be reeling for a long time to come, to say nothing of Nathan’s original family, Britt, Nina (Cynthia Watros), and Obrecht (Kathleen Gati).

In a recent interview with TV Guide, Paevey said, “This go-round is definitely going to be wildly different than the last one was. I’m interested to see where that goes/ We’ve got some fun stuff planned. I wouldn’t come back for something vanilla. It’s going to be a blast.”

When Nathan returns home, he will have to deal with the shock of his widow, Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms), not only being back with Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) but also being away, fighting for her life in a coma.

The writers said that when Britt returns home, she will face resistance from Rocco’s (Finn Carr) parents, Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) and Lulu (Alexa Havins), now that Rocco knows Britt carried him to term and gave birth to him. Britt has been following Rocco’s life from afar on social media, but has no idea that Rocco has been curious about her and asking Liesl for information about her. The writers hinted that Brad Cooper (Parry Shen) would return and be a part of this story.

They also said the father-daughter duo of Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) and Charlotte Cassadine (Scarlett Fernandez) would return to General Hospital and be involved in the story. The writers said Charlotte would get closer to Rocco and Danny (Asher Antonyzyn) to help her father in mysterious ways.

Seeing Britt and Nathan alive will spark suspicions from Anna Devane (Finola Hughes), who suspects that Faison may be behind everything and could be the mysterious boss at the Five Poppies. According to the writers, “Anna’s fall is about learning the truth behind their survival. But the more questions she asks, the closer she is to danger.”

Anna also knows that Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) is in Croatia and in grave peril, while Jack Brennan (Chris Brennan) hides that information from her mother, Carly (Laura Wright). The writers indicated that Carly will be on a rampage if she finds this out. “Men who cross Carly pay the price. Will Jack Brennan be any different?”

The General Hospital head writers also said there will be movement in the relationship between Gio Palmieri (Giovanni Mazza) and Emma Drake (Braedyn Bruner) as they continue to investigate Professor Henry Dalton (Daniel Goddard). They don’t know about his connection to the events in Croatia, but that could change.
