Since May, Rory Gibson has been playing Michael Corinthos on General Hospital, wowing the viewers. He originally tested for the part of Vaughn, but the powers that be felt he was a better fit to replace Chad Duell as the Corinthos/Quartermaine scion. And he hit the ground running, finding himself knee-deep in the Michael, Willow (Katelyn MacMullen), and Drew (Cameron Mathison) drama. Gibson recently celebrated his first GH milestone.

A great recast

Gibson shared several pics and videos on Instagram with the caption, “One month since my first episode. Honored to be here. @generalhospitalabc.” The first pic was of the outside of the studio with the iconic General Hospital logo on the side of the building. Next was a clip of a stern Michael telling Willow how things were going to be. After that was a shot of the Prospect Studios sign, followed by a quick clip of Jason (Steve Burton) and Michael reuniting with a bro hug. Satellite antennas were then seen, after which was the adorable clip of Michael and Sasha laughing after baby Daisy was born. Finally, we got a pic of one of the hospital sets, with stage lights hanging high above.

Giovanni Mazza (Gio) responded, “Killer dude,” while Mathison shared several applause emojis. Fan @xteen_21 wrote a common response that was found throughout the post, writing, “BEST recast ever!! Love you as Michael.” (Are you Team Michael, or Team Drew?)

He made the part his own

Fans praised his take on Michael, with @melleinandrew responding, “You're killing it, Rory.👏👏 Can't wait till Michael and Curtis get revenge on Drew!” Drew has been blackmailing Curtis’ (Donnell Turner) wife, Portia (Brook Kerr), and he and Michael are working on a scheme to make Congressman Cutthroat think he’s got the upper hand. This will cause him to let his guard down, and he’ll eventually make a mistake that the two can exploit to take him down.

@andreakonyk referenced Gibson’s prior role as Noah Newman on The Young and the Restless with the response, “Rory, I thought you were great on Y&R, but you are amazing on GH. You have already made Michael your own. 👏👏👏👏👏Congratulations!!!” And @

Angelatheart__ poured on the heartfelt praise by commenting, “And one month ago General Hospital hit the jackpot with you. You hit the ground running and never looked back from the start, truly the best addition the show could have asked for. And well worth the wait for how long it took them to get it right!! You are soaring and I'm loving every minute of it@rory_gibson.”
