Soap icon Erika Slezak weighs in on her first week at General Hospital

It's only a matter of time before General Hospital fans welcome daytime legend Erika Slezak to the Port Charles scene. The six-time Emmy winner who brought Victoria Lord to life on One Life to Live from 1971 to 2013 began taping scenes at GH last week.

Slezak offered fans an update via her official website, run by her longtime assistant Walter Miller.

"Everyone at GH is so wonderfully kind and helpful, and by now I know my way around the studio a bit," Slezak said, according to ErikaSlezak.com.

Miller offered several other tidbits from Slezak's first Port Charles week, saying, "She has reconnected with many old friends from OLTL, which has made her feel comfortable and at ease in her new environment."

"Erika also noted that the past week has been quite busy, and she anticipates an even busier week ahead," the update continued. Her evenings consist of learning lines for the following day! Despite missing her family and animals back home, she is thoroughly enjoying her time at GH. She promised to inform us about the airdates as soon as she knows them. Additionally, she humorously remarked on the consistent weather in LA, describing it as perpetually sunny and hot!"

Slezak's role still remains a mystery

Soap fans were thrilled when news broke that the beloved actress was coming to GH this fall, but there is still no word on who she will be playing. While Lulu Spencer now works for the Llanview Banner, where Viki Lord is her boss, it doesn't appear that Slezak will be reprising her longtime OLTL role.

There has been some speculation that Slezak will be Monica Quartermaine's sister, who arrives in town after the character's passing. Leslie Charleson, who had played Monica since 1977, passed away on January 12, 2025, and Monica's death and the aftermath will play out on screen this fall.

"I am thrilled to confirm that my dear friend and former One Life to Live colleague, Erika Slezak, will appear on General Hospital this Fall," GH Executive Producer Frank Valentini said in a statement earlier this summer. "Stay tuned and keep watching as we prepare to introduce another daytime legend to Port Charles."
