Laura Collins has gone through the wringer lately on General Hospital and then some. The Mayor of Port Charles may have won her recent election, but everything else about her life has resembled The Upside Down from Stranger Things. First, Laura had to contend with her grandson's arrest, which led to him facing felony charges. After that, she was caught slapping his accuser on camera on the eve of her election. If those instances weren't bad enough, she found Dalton's body in her trunk, called Sonny to help get rid of it, and now she's being blackmailed by Jenz Sidwell. Life is not going well for Laura.

The only positive thing in Laura's life at the moment is Kevin's return, who couldn't have come at a more opportune time. She needed someone by her side who could serve as a calm, rational voice amid the sea of madness. However, the stress is definitely getting to her, and it's beginning to manifest in other ways. Her unconscious state is sending her a powerful message, and while that's horrifying for Laura, it's quite the treat for fans.

On Friday's all-new episode, Laura was visited by two blasts from her past in a dream sequence that quickly turned into her worst nightmare. First, her dearly departed brother, Cyrus, appeared at her door, and she was instantly confused about his presence in her home. The writers upped the ante, though, because after Cyrus came the shocking return of Esme, who blasted Laura for putting Ace in danger. What served as a significant source of trauma for Laura left fans on social media wanting more.

"#GeneralHospital gives us their version of The Nightmare Before Christmas. Laura gets a vist from Cyrus and Esme," one viewer tweeted.

"Great to see Cyrus and Esme! Hopefully Esme returns in 2026 having survived and knowing Spencer has too. A recast Spencer in 2026 as well," a fan wrote.

"I was 99.999% sure that Laura was having a nightmare when Cyrus appeared at the door, but my heart sank for fear it wasn’t, he’s terrifying to me even through the TV screen. I was actually glad to see Esme & KNOW it was just a nightmare, but I was surprised that I kinda miss her," another viewer commented.

"Friday's dream sequence with 'Cyrus', AND 'Esme', "haunting" 'Laura Collins'........After Genie Francis "Killed it" in her previous scenes this week," a fan said.

"So good seeing Cyrus and Esme. Cyrus can't come back but Esme is "presumed dead," so she can easily come back and fight Laura for Ace," a viewer predicted.

"Great soap characters. Stories on GH right now really holding my interest. Love that Genie Francis is getting a chance to shine. Also seeing Selena, Cyrus, Esme, Kevin, Valentin all popping up this week was great," another fan stated.

"I screamed when I saw Cyrus! What a new s/l THAT would have been… then I realized it was a dream when Esme showed up. That young woman sure can act," a viewer tweeted.

"It was great because it was unexpected. Having both Cyrus and Esme in Laura's dream was fun to watch. But I still hate Esme lol," a fan declared.

Laura (Genie Francis) has a lot of contemplating to do before she decides on her next step. Although the disturbing dream featuring Esme (Avery Pohl) and Cyrus (Jeff Kober) is behind her, the true nightmare continues. She has the very real and the very dangerous Sidwell to contend with, and it's one of the trickiest situations she's ever found herself in. While it's true that she's defeated countless foes in the past, this time she has Ace to consider, and Sidwell (Carlo Rota) knows that, and he's using it to his advantage.

The other issue plaguing Laura is the internal struggle over whether to throw Sonny under the bus to save herself. She could find a way to explain herself to the authorities to avoid criminal charges. However, it's highly unlikely that they would look the other way when it came to Sonny (Maurice Benard). ADA Turner (Nazneen Contractor) has been looking for an opportunity to nail Sonny on charges that would stick, and this is the best possible chance to make that a reality.
