Amazon has cast Ozark star Tom Pelphrey (ex-Jonathan Randall, Guiding Light) as a series regular in its upcoming drama Outer Range, which also stars Josh Brolin, Lili Taylor, and Tamara Podemski.

Guiding Light alum Tom Pelphrey (ex-Jonathan Randall) is a star on the rise. Hot on the heels of his head-turning role in Ozark comes news that he has landed a series regular role in Amazon's upcoming mystery series, Outer Range.

From playwright Brian Watkins, Brad Pitt's Plan B Entertainment, and Amazon Studios, the drama series centers on Royal Abbott (Josh Brolin), a rancher fighting for his land and family, who discovers an unfathomable mystery at the edge of Wyoming's wilderness.

Deadline reports that Lili Taylor is set to portray Cecilia Abbott, the matriarch of the Abbott family and a woman of deep faith, which she finds tested as never before. Tamara Podemski will play Deputy Sheriff Joy, a lifelong cop who is running for county sheriff and is the first gay Native American to ever do so in Wyoming. Pelphrey has signed on as Perry Abbott, the dutiful eldest Abbott son, who is torn up inside by the lingering mystery of his missing wife.

Additional details on Outer Range remain scarce at this time, so keep checking back to Soap Central for updates and a premiere date as they come.

Most GL fans aren't surprised that Pelphrey is becoming a big star. After all, he oozed talent during his 2004 to 2009 run in Springfield, winning two Daytime Emmy Awards for his work on the CBS soap opera. After he left GL, he briefly appeared on As the World Turns as Mick Dante before going on to shows like The Good Wife, Banshee, and Iron Fist. He can next be seen as Joseph Mankiewicz in David Fincher's Netflix film, Mank, which is set for a limited theatrical release on Friday, November 13, and for streaming on Netflix beginning Friday, December 4.
