Anthony Mackie recently revealed to unsuspecting fans that Avengers: Doomsday will end on a cliffhanger and asked them to brace for maximum impact. The surprisingly candid revelation was received by fans about as well as can be expected of them, with fans screaming in agony at the tidbit. And honestly, we agree with them.

Here is an excerpt from his interview:

"You know what? I was really excited, man. It’s one of those stories that really pushes the boundaries, and it — the cliffhanger at the end, you know, the last moments of the film — it really builds and sets us up for a way for the continuation of the Marvel saga, which is really exciting. You see these characters, and you see how they’re introduced and how they play in the universe moving forward, and no one is safe. Everyone is expendable."

Anthony Mackie's candid admission sends fans into a frenzy

Avengers: Doomsday won't be released to theatres until a year from now, and fans are practically shaking with excitement. Fans have already been debating what possible stories are going to unfold in the upcoming movie, and Mackie just dashed their dreams by announcing the upcoming movie will just be another Avengers: Infinity War remake! Seriously, where's the mystique, man?

Granted, deep inside their hearts, fans probably knew this was coming, but Anthony Mackie's casual reveal just obliterated the sacred art of fan speculation and conspiracy theories. Fans were left with a bad taste in their mouths and trolled Mackie mercilessly for raining on their parade:

"Why would you tell us that", sighed one fan (via X / @SixersJustin)
"Just spoil the whole movie at this point, let us be surprised man", added another (via X / @RapidCrafterYT)

The backlash on X was a five-star comedy special as fans were torn between their emotions- whether to applaud Anthony Mackie for his brutal honesty or to troll him for violating the sacred tradition. The overwhelming majority chose the latter option. The startling revelation led many fans to ask the question, "Where have I seen this before?". Once they figured it out, fans turned X into a meme factory:

"So they’re just doing the infinity war “everyone loses” again?", joked one fan (via X / @mistooor)
"But with these current characters, nobody really cares who lives or dies", quipped another (via X / @Huff4Congress)

When Anthony Mackie revealed that everyone would be expendable in Avengers: Doomsday, it sent netizens spiralling into chaos, debating the identity of the characters next in line to meet their demise. As Marvel plays musical chairs with the Avengers, fans turned Mackie's gaffe into a roast session they began poking holes in the plot armor of Avengers: Doomsday:

"Until plot armor saves the Avengers again and create bigger destructions for the future. Hell yeh", commented one fan (via X / @afksilas)

Another fan chimed in with the claim that it was all premeditated:

"They try to make it sound so dramatic and suspenseful when they've already brought back like 1000 dead characters"

Mark Ruffalo famously played the same antics before the release of Avengers: Infinity War, but those were innocent times when fans knew better than to take everything at face value. Grizzled fans have now caught up to the shenanigans and mocked Anthony Mackie for tripping over himself:

Anthony Mackie spilling the beans on the plot sent the fans into pandemonium, even as they debated the identity of the characters who were next in the firing line. Was it a gaffe, a slip of the tongue, or a genuine ploy to get people talking? We don't know. The fandom’s too wise to fall for it fully, but fans are still losing their minds because, well, it’s Marvel, and fans are contractually obligated to freak out!
