Shakira has officially teamed up with Spotify to celebrate two significant milestones in her career: the 30th anniversary of her debut album Pies Descalzos (1995) and the 20th anniversary of Oral Fixation (Vol. 1 and 2, 2005). The celebration arrives as part of Spotify's "Anniversaries" series, which celebrates beloved classic albums.
In the new special, Shakira revisits her records with storytelling, live performances, and reimagined arrangements. She is also joined by Ed Sheeran, Beéle, and a 14-piece string ensemble. The project also features her collaborator, Luis Fernando Ochoa, who co-produced Pies Descalzos. An official description of the special reads:
"In this special Spotify Anniversary film, global icon Shakira revisits the groundbreaking albums Pies Descalzos and Oral Fixation (Fijación Oral), reimagining her most beloved hits through powerful performances and personal storytelling. Joined by special guests, Ed Sheeran, fellow hometown artist Beéle, a 14-piece string ensemble, and accompanied by her band as well as Luis Fernando Ochoa, longtime collaborator and co-producer of Pies Descalzos, she brings new life to the classics that defined her career and inspired generations."
Netizens reacted to the new project, saying:

Internet reactions to Shakira celebrating the 30th and 20th anniversaries of her albums with Spotify Anniversary special
Pop Crave took to its official X (formerly Twitter) page to announce that,
"Shakira has released a Spotify Anniversary special to honor the 30th anniversary of ‘Pies Descalzos’ and the 20th anniversary of ‘Fijación Oral.’"
Netizens were quick to weigh in on the comment section of the X post as they penned their thoughts about Shakira's album anniversary special. Below are some of their remarks:
"The biggest takeaway is how she survived the impossible ten-year transition from Spanish-language poet to global pop icon, it should have killed her career, but she owned it. Fijación Oral was the boldest artistic gamble in 2000s music, abandoning a core fanbase for a completely unproven fusion sound. She essentially risked Pies Descalzos’ entire legacy to achieve superstardom, and that level of audacity deserves a second listen. 🚀", stated a fan.
"Still can't believe Shakira dropped this anniversary special while we're all here pretending to have moved on from our 2000s obsession. Like now I have to explain to my coworkers why I'm suddenly blasting Pies Descalzos in the office and why I know every single word to songs I haven't heard in years. Thanks for making me feel ancient and nostalgic at the same time, queen.", expressed another.
"Shakira one of the biggest Pop stars! She has been in game for so long happy anniversary to both project 💚", lauded a third.
Others also chimed in:
"How to ruin an epic song in just some minutes! Original song is GOLD and I thought this new version was going to be Epic too but I'm so dissapointed with her vocals!", opined an X user.
"That’s such a beautiful way to celebrate two defining eras of her career. Pies Descalzos gave us the raw, poetic Shakira that put Latin pop on the map, and Fijación Oral showed her evolution into a global icon. Three decades in and she’s still rewriting what longevity in music looks like.", commented another.
"Shakira celebrating Pies Descalzos and Fijación Oral feels like a full-circle moment for everyone who grew up translating her lyrics with Google before it was cool. Thirty years in and her hips still have not told a single lie.", wrote a third.
Spotify issued an official press release to announce Shakira's special:
"In 1995, a young Colombian artist released an album that would change Latin pop music forever. Shakira's Pies Descalzos was a hit, introducing the world to her expressive lyrics, infectious rhythms, and unmistakable voice. A decade later, she followed it up with Oral Fixation (Vol. 1 and Vol. 2), compilation albums that cemented her place as a global superstar and delivered chart-topping tracks that still get fans moving today."
The special also arrived the same week Shakira spoke out about Bad Bunny headlining the 2026 Super Bowl Halftime Show. In an October 21 interview with Variety, the Hips Don't Lie singer called his selection "the perfect moment," adding,
"It's about time. I am so proud that Bad Bunny, who represents Latin culture and Spanish-language music, gets to perform on the biggest stage in the world."
