Addison Rae’s potential VMAs appearance with Sombr sparks buzz: Everything we know so far

Sombr will be one of the performing artists at the VMAs this year. According to an exclusive report from TMZ, the outlet met the 20-year-old singer-songwriter and asked him to share his thoughts about the upcoming performance. Sombr, or Shane Michael Boose, responded by saying he is excited and still can't believe that he would share the stage with some of the biggest names in the music industry.

However, fans were curious to know if Addison Rae would be joining him on stage. TMZ did not miss the opportunity to ask the question to Sombr. However, the Undressed singer shut down all such questions, though he did pause to grin before saying that Addison is currently on tour.

While Boose did not confirm if Addison would be joining him or not on stage for the VMAs, his little grin to the cameras has given fans hope. Addison Rae is yet to comment on whether she will be joining Shane Boose on stage in September.

Are Sombr and Addison Rae dating?

The rumors of Sombr and Addison Rae dating began after the pop star appeared in his 12 to 12 music video. She plays the role of a dancer in the video. While everyone is in love with the two on screen, Boose confirms that their chemistry is just for the music video, and he is still open to seeing other people.

As for Addison Rae, Rolling Stone confirmed that the singer and her long-term boyfriend, Omer Fedi, were still dating in January 2025. Rae and Fedi have been together since 2021, after she shared a video of them kissing, making their relationship public.

However, a few months after the Rolling Stone confirmation, Rae said during an interview with Elle in April:

"I think all relationships in my life right now are going through a transformation in a lot of ways, whether that's good or bad or confusing or not. And I think it's just a lot of self-confrontation right now in these moments, and just figuring out what I really want to do and what feels right."

It is unclear if she and Fedi have broken up or not, but she is not dating Sombr, as confirmed by the 20-year-old singer himself.

Fans are eagerly waiting for the VMAs, scheduled to be held on September 7, 2025. Sombr has been nominated for two categories: Best New Artist and Best Alternative Artist. The VMAs will be broadcast for the first time on CBS and live-streamed on the premium tier of Paramount+.
