Alex Warren recently caused a frenzy on the internet by showing support for Sabrina Carpenter's Manchild in one of his Instagram stories. The show of solidarity comes at a crucial time, since Manchild is vying with his song Ordinary for the top position on the Billboard Hot 100 charts.

Alex Warren's breakout song Ordinary is currently at the peak of the Billboard Hot 100 and has been leading the charts for the last two weeks. The track was released as part of Warren's 2024 album You'll Be Alright, Kid (Chapter 1), and the track has spent 16 weeks on the chart, attracted 21.5 million streams, and a whopping 48.1 million radio audience impressions.

Although Sabrina Carpenter's Manchild was released relatively recently, it is fast making up ground on Warren's track, having already overtaken Ordinary as the top song on the UK singles charts, a spot which Warren had been holding for the past 12 consecutive weeks.

Most artists in Warren's position would be focused solely on maintaining their lead, but Warren chose a different path, and the move has caused a stir on social media as well.

Alex Warren's incredible run to the top of the charts

Alex Warren has gained massive popularity since his transition from social media influencer to musician. He first started his career in 2021 with One More I Love You and has shown remarkable growth in recent years. Warren's previous single Burning Down from You'll Be Alright, Kid (Chapter 1), helped facilitate his entry into the Billboard charts, and the album's success has been taken to another level with Ordinary's leap to the top of the charts.

Alex Warren's debut album, You'll Be Alright, Kid, has proven a life-altering change for him and has enjoyed great reception across all platforms and markets. The artist has now taken to social media to announce the release of the complete album on July 18, 2025. The album originally featured 21 songs, out of which 11 were released last year.

Amid the rousing success Ordinary has enjoyed, Alex Warren made an appearance on Hits Radio earlier this year, where he opened up about the efforts that went into the making of the track as he narrated his explained his thought process behind the title:

"I was 18-years-old, sleeping in my car, and my wife, who was also 18-years-old... She would start living in my car with me and I think the bond that we have is really special. Like we've been together for nearly seven years now, and when we met I was homeless. There was nothing, no one can say it was because of the music, no one can say it was anything."

He then went on to add:

"I had nothing and she had nothing, but we did it, she slept in the car, and we did this together. We're here together, we travel together we have four dogs and that song is kind of like, this is what we found and it's not normal. That's why it's called 'Ordinary', because it's anything but."

Alex Warren’s rise has been a real challenge mixed with incredible events, something he made clear in his words. On the other hand, Sabrina Carpenter’s Manchild has also generated massive buzz since its release, with fans and critics alike going gaga over the track.

With both tracks receiving strong reception from fans, Warren's public backing for his fellow musician represents a new kind of friendly competition in the music industry. As both artists continue their upward trajectories, all eyes will firmly be fixed on next week's charts.
