Sabrina Carpenter has finally released her latest single, Manchild. Along with releasing it on streaming platforms, Sabrina also uploaded an Instagram post, talking about the inspiration and real meaning behind the song by saying,

"Not only was it so fun to write, but this song became to me something I can look back on that will score the mental montage to the very confusing and fun young adult years of life."

Sabrina Carpenter is known for turning her real-life experiences into songs, and Manchild is no different. The singer further added,

"I wrote manchild on a random tuesday with Amy and Jack not too long after finishing ‘Short n’ Sweet’ and it ended up being the best random Tuesday of my life."

Carpenter first announced her hit album, Short n' Sweet, on June 3. The album was released on August 23 and consisted of twelve songs, including hits like 'Espresso' and 'Please Please Please.'

Additionally, the album earned three Grammy nominations and even took home the Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album.

Sabrina Carpenter says the new song sounds like a 'never-ending' summer road trip

While Sabrina Carpenter didn't reveal the exact time when she wrote the song, fans are nearly guaranteed that it was written about a year ago, based on her announcement of the album Short n’ Sweet in June 2024.

The singer also added that the song reminds her of summer by saying,

"It sounds like the song embodiment of a loving eye roll and it feels like a never ending road trip in the summer ! Hence why i wanted to give it to you now- so you can stick your head out the car window and scream it all summer long!"

As per the singer's caption, Manchild is a mix of honest feelings and light, funny moments that take her back to the confusing but exciting years of growing up.

She ended the caption by saying,

"And thank you men for testing me!!🐷🤍"

Fans have already started calling it the song of the summer. Additionally, many of them have been filling Sabrina’s comment section with love, support, and excitement.

On the other hand, some people think the song might be a diss track aimed at her ex, Barry Keoghan.
