Sia’s past relationships explored
Sia, born Sia Kate Isobelle Furler, is an Australian singer and songwriter known for many of her hit songs, including Chandelier, Unstoppable, Cheap Thrills, Elastic Heart, and Hass Hass.
Furler had a boyfriend named Dan Pontifex who died in 1997, just after Crisp, a band she was in, disbanded. She was on her way to London to meet him when she got the news that he had been hit by a car and passed away in the hospital.
In a 2007 interview with The Sunday Times, Furler revealed she couldn't feel anything after that and was just numb to so many things during that period.
“I was pretty fucked up after Dan died. I couldn't really feel anything. We were all devastated, so we got shit-faced on drugs and Special Brew. Unfortunately, that bender lasted six years for me.”
She dedicated her 2001 album Healing Is Difficult to that relationship.
In August 2014, Furler married documentary filmmaker Erik Anders Lang. The couple wedded in the Australian singer’s California home in Palm Springs. Furleramd Lang divorced in 2016. Six years after her divorce from Lang, the songwriter secretly married Dan Bernad in December 2022.
The couple later had a ceremony in Portofino, Italy, in May 2023. On March 27, 2024, the couple welcomed their first child, Somersault Wonder Bernard.
Furler and Dan separated in March 2025, and the mother of one filed for divorce soon after, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason.
