Benny Blanco did not know the Jonas Brothers until “Sucker”

Benny Blanco recently revealed on a podcast that he had never listened to any songs by the Jonas Brothers until recently. On a fresh episode of Jake Shane's podcast named Therapuss, Benny Blanco said that he only knew of the Jonas Brothers when he listened to their 2019 hit song “Sucker.”

The conversation began when the host revealed that watching James Maslow in Nickelodeon’s 2009-2013 hit teen show Big Time Rush was his “gay awakening.” However, Blanco told the podcast host that he’s never heard of the boy group before. While Shane was still reeling from the shocking news, Blanco dropped another shocker.

“I didn’t know who the Jonas Brothers were until ‘Sucker.’ Like, I'd heard the name. I had never heard a Jonas Brothers song until ‘Sucker.”

Benny Blanco was featured on the 82nd session of Jake Shane’s Therapuss podcast. The episode, almost hour an hour and a half long, was shared on YouTube a few hours ago on July 10, 2025, and has garnered over 37 thousand views of the video platform.

In the episode, Benny Blanco talked about his career as a music producer and listed some of the successful music he had produced in the past. While explaining his age, the star producer listed some of the top songs he produced in 2008.

He asked Jake, who revealed he was 8 years old in 2008:

“You want me to give you your summer of 2008, your summer of 2009, your summer of 2010?

Blanco continued:

“Okay Katy Perry, I Kissed a Girl, Katy Perry Hot n Cold, Katy Perry California Girls, Katy Perry Teenage Dream, Kesha TikTok, Kesha Your Love is My Drug, Kesha We Are Who We Are, Kesha Blow, Britney Spears Circus.”

In addition to revealing not knowing some of the most popular boy bands in music history, Benny Blanco told Jake that he hadn't watched any of his fiancée’s teen Disney shows until after they began dating.

Blanco told Shane:

“I’m older than you. I had never seen Selena’s show until we started dating."

He added:

“I had never seen Wizards. I knew she was a kid star, but I had never seen any of it. She was going to be on the reboot, and I was like, ‘Hey, can I see your show before we go to the reboot, so, like, I know what it is? And she was like, ‘What?’ And she was like, ‘I guess and then we watched the first episode, and I was like, ‘This is so cute.’ And then she was like, ‘Wait, let me show you just one more good scene.’ And she showed me one. She was like, ‘It really is the best show ever.’ She showed me a few good scenes and I was like, ‘Okay, I get it.”
