Big Thief's sixth studio album, Double Infinity, has been officially released. It is the first album they have released as a trio following bassist Max Oleartchik's exit in 2024.
The remaining Big Thief members, Adrianne Lenker, Buck Meek, and James Krivchenia, teamed up with Laraaji, June McDoom, Hannah Cohen, Caleb Michel, and several other artists for their latest record. Recorded over three weeks in the winter of 2025 at New York’s legendary Power Station, Double Infinity was produced and engineered by Dom Monks.
In this article, we have ranked all nine tracks from Double Infinity. Read on to get an insight into each of the album's tracks.

Every song on Big Thief's Double Infinity, ranked
1. Grandmother (Ft. Laraaji)
Grandmother is perhaps the most distinctive track on the record. Laraaji's drones and vocals have given the song something almost spiritual. Lenker's lyrics about impermanence and memory made the track top this list. Big Thief sings,
"It's alright, everything that happened, happened/ So what's the use of holding?"
2. No Fear
This one is a hypnotic and mantra-like piece. In this track, Lenker repeats some short lines against looping bass and guitar. Its simplicity adds weight to the album. It has a seven-minute runtime. No Fear feels like a song for meditation. Its lyrics include,
"There is nowhere, no table, no chair, no country/ There is no face that isn't in your face, there to see"
3. Incomprehensible
This is the opening track of Big Thief's Double Infinity. It seemingly sets the tone for the album's main theme: aging, memory, and uncertainty. Lenker sings about being 33 and the passage of time. The song also tells about the pressure society puts on how we think about our bodies. Notable lyrics include:
""I'm afraid of getting older", that's what I've learned to say/ Society has given me the words to think that way"
4. Los Angeles
Double Infinity's Los Angeles is mainly built around acoustic guitar and harmonies. It sings about the fragility and endurance of friendship after romance. The song is relatively understated compared to the other songs on Big Thief's latest record.
5. All Night All Day
"Swallow poison, swallow sugar/ Sometimes they taste the same/ But I know your love is neither"
With these lyrics, All Night All Day is a lighter track with a sing-along chorus. The song tries to balance the sweetness and melancholy of a romance. It has harpsichord-like textures. Buck Meek's guitar gives the track a breezy feel.
6. Double Infinity
The title track feels like Big Thief's latest album's potential central statement: love as something formless and constant. The song gives an acknowledgment of love's inevitability. It also sheds light on aging, another recurring theme of the record. Adrianne Lenker sings:
"Beauty speak to me/ Let me know you, let me see/ Myself inside your mystery/ Through the crystal cage of aging"
7. Words
This song is a study of a language's limitations. Lenker admits words can't always bridge distances. The instrumentation of Words is sharp in execution. However, it falls short of the record's strongest themes and lyrics.
8. How Could I Have Known
It is the closing song of Big Thief's Double Infinity. All voices join in harmony to sing the song. It is tender and feels very casual. However, it is less memorable than some of the earlier songs.
9. Happy With You
Happy With You is the simplest and most playful track on the album and also the least memorable. Nevertheless, if compared to the other weightier cuts on the record, it can come across as light filler. The lyrics are also pretty casual:
"Happy with you/ Why do I need to explain myself?/ I'm happy with you"
