Bad Bunny has been announced as the performer at the 2026 Super Bowl halftime show. The singer's performance at the upcoming Super Bowl on February 8, 2026, was confirmed on September 29, 2025. The announcement has triggered debate online, as the singer previously ruled out a US tour over fear of ICE raids. He has now agreed to perform in the same country, as exemplified by the reactions quoted below:

"saying you were avoiding the US while touring because of your fear of ICE unlawfully kidnapping your concert attendees but then accepting to do the halftime show is... certainly a choice?"

Other netizens reacted similarly, with many calling out the singer over this matter. However, some were more positive in their reaction:

"So, Bad Bunny refuses to tour/perform in the U.S. because of his unwavering disagreement with the work of ICE. Yet, he reverses his decision when the Super Bowl calls for a one time performance.Talk about virtue signaling. @NFL @RocNation @nflcommish do better" one netizen reacted.
"They chose Bad Bunny, an artist who is an outspoken critic of the current administration and literally cancelled a US tour over fears of ICE raids. They knew exactly what they were doing. The meltdown this will cause is the entire point" another netizen reacted.
"do you guys realize how f***ing HUGE this is. he’s refusing to tour america right now bc of ice but is choosing to do the biggest show aka the halftime. he is definitely going to make a political statement this is HUGE for latinx. as a puerto rican i am ECSTATIC he’s going to EAT" one commenter opined.
"MAGA is going to lose their sh*t with a Latin performer. All while 75 percent of the NFL players are black.Whites love their football tho so they’re in a tight spot. lol" another commenter opined.

Bad Bunny refused to tour in the US over ICE raid fears

Bad Bunny is currently set to embark on his Debí Tirar Más Fotos World Tour, which will start on November 21, 2025. It will continue until July 22, 2026, across Mexico, Central America, South America, Australia, and Europe. However, the singer has refused to tour in the US over ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) raid fears.

The singer elucidated his fears in a recent interview with i-D that was published on September 10, 2025:

"Man, honestly, yes. There were many reasons why I didn’t show up in the US, and none of them were out of hate—I’ve performed there many times. All of [the shows] have been successful. All of them have been magnificent. I’ve enjoyed connecting with Latinos who have been living in the US But specifically, for a residency here in Puerto Rico, when we are an unincorporated territory of the US…"

Bad Bunny continued:

"People from the US could come here to see the show. Latinos and Puerto Ricans of the United States could also travel here, or to any part of the world. But there was the issue of—like, f***ing ICE could be outside [my concert]. And it’s something that we were talking about and very concerned about."

The singer has been a vocal opponent of ICE even before his tour announcement, having been spotted cursing out ICE officers seemingly detaining people in Puerto Rico.
