Conan Gray’s ‘This Song’ officially dropped on May 30, 2025, after much teasing and promotion. It was written by Conan, and the production was handled by Ethan Gruska and Dan Nigro. ‘This Song’ is centered on the theme of love and follows the story of two young men who discover their feelings for each other and end up falling in love during the summer. The first verse reads:

“You know that I love you/ And I have a feeling that you love me back/ We're sat in my bedroom/ And I hear your heart like a train on the tracks/ Your eyes are like Heaven, your voice is like rain/ 11:11s, they all hear your name/ I'm too shy to tell you the words on my mind/ I hope you can see if you read through these lines.”

The song was released as the first single off Conan Gray’s fourth studio album, Wishbone. The album is set to be released in August and will reportedly feature twelve tracks, all written by Conan Gray. In a lengthy Instagram caption, Conan described the making of Wishbone and what it meant to him.

“Over the past two years, I’ve been secretly writing songs. After shows in the basements of the venues, in the sheets of my hotel beds, in narrow gaps between tours— I’d come back home and write all the things I felt nobody wanted to hear. Maybe even the things I didn’t want people to hear. I didn’t tell my friends. I didn’t tell my label. After all, I didn’t know I was making anything, and I had no plan to release any of it,” he wrote.

He explained that the album serves as a reminder of who he is, especially during the experimental phase of his twenties. He concludes his lengthy message by stating that he has a lot to express, but he prefers to convey those feelings through his music.
