Finesse2Tymes's career: A brief overview
Finesse2Tymes, born Ricky Hampton, started his career back in 2012 as part of the rap collective Memphis Greatest Underrated. Alongside Tymes, the collective consisted of Moneybagg Yo, Blac Youngsta, as well as other Memphis rappers. The collective released their self-titled EP in 2016.
After that, Finesse2Tymes switched to a solo career, releasing his debut mixtape Goin Straight In in December 2016. The singer subsequently went on to release three other mixtapes, with the latest mixtape, 90 Days, being released in 2022. 90 Days featured guest appearances from Gucci Mane, Moneybagg Yo, Lil Baby, and Tay Keith, respectively.
The singer talked about 90 Days in an exclusive interview with HotNewHipHop on December 2, 2022, talking about his recording process:
"I've had them songs already. I had them done, like they was already done coming out the door like, I believe that I had my first album probably like two weeks of me being out."
The singer later talked about the instrumentation process he followed, stating in response to the question that
"Nah, not exactly. I don't exactly got a specific person I like working with, but I got a specific type I like, like trap soul, or hardcore trap, you know what I'm saying."
The rapper added:
"The struggle trap, so you know, waves like that. It's still a street theater, so I try to keep as street at the same time but I'm actually versatile. It's a certain type of beat that I can listen to and come up with some s**t that you'll be surprised by."
The rapper later talked about conflict in his career:
"...I can't hold a grudge 'cause you can't move forward. When you're holding negative energy in the universe, period, not just a specific person, it kind of creates a bad luck vibe for you. You want to have your name clean, your face clean."
In 2022, Finesse2Tymes also released the compilation album, Singlez. Finesse2Tymes's latest release is the album Art of War. The album was released on November 22, 2024. The album was released via Mob Ties and Atlantic.
