DDG shared concerning news about a police swatting during his paintball tournament. The 27-year-old rapper and streamer alleged during a live YouTube broadcast that he was surrounded by members of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department during a paintball game. DDG titled the video:

“I Almost Died Today.”

A viral video shared online shows DDG being handcuffed and escorted to a vehicle, where the cuffs are removed. The online personality alleged that the officers refused to tell him his offence:

"Ain't no what's up, ain't no nothing! Ain't no dude, we got a call. Nothing."

He added that the deputies only instructed him to put his hands in the air and that, being in an altered state due to smoking, he was paranoid about the interaction:

"And y'all know I just got done smoking. I just got done smoking. So, you got to think what's going through my mental, bro."

He continued:

"I literally just got done getting high. I'm fried. So, I'm thinking to myself this whole time like, 'Is this real?'"

DDG believes that he was a victim of swatting, although he didn’t mention who could have made the false call to the police.

Cops are actively looking for the person who made a fake call concerning DDG

According to a TMZ report published on August 11, 2025, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department revealed that they responded to a call on Sunday afternoon, reporting that a male adult armed with a firearm was brandishing it and threatening to harm people around him.

Police rushed to the scene, drew their guns, cuffed DDG, and briefly detained him. The LA sheriff’s department further confirmed to the news outlet that no one at the paintball venue was armed and none of the details from the 911 call were true.

The deputies at the scene then conducted a field report for a fraudulent emergency call. The Detective Bureau is reportedly investigating the case to uncover the identity of the person who made the fake call.

Dimitri Hurt, DDG’s attorney and manager, made a statement to TMZ about the incident:

"The anonymous caller fabricated a claim that DDG was armed and threatening people, which led to an unnecessary and heavily armed police response to a peaceful paintball live stream event."

He added:

"This reckless and malicious act disrupted the tournament, caused unnecessary panic among attendees, and put everyone present -- including law enforcement -- in harm’s way."
