More than a few hearts might be broken as rapper and singer Doja Cat announced that she would no longer perform at the Austin City Limits festival. The artist revealed via Instagram Stories on August 29, 2025, that she chose to forego the music festival to focus on her upcoming album Vie.

The Tia Tamera crooner shared that she hadn't expected Vie’s release to coincide with Austin City Limits. Doja Cat added that she pulled out of ACL because she couldn't give fans a good show due to her current commitment:

"I’ve been working on finalizing the album, making videos, taking the time to put together an album campaign that I am really excited about, and it’s become clear to me that I cannot give you guys the show you deserve within this time frame.”

She continued:

“Thank you to the ACL team for their support, and I hope to see you all again soon when the time is right. I’m forever grateful for the opportunity.”

ACL festival organizers didn't miss a beat. After Doja shared that she was no longer performing, they announced that The Killers would replace her.

The multihyphenate entertainer recently announced that her fifth album, Vie, would be released on September 26, 2025, through a series of vintage concept videos on Instagram.

In a July 2025 cover story for V Magazine, the Agora Hills hitmaker revealed that Vie was a pop project:

“I do want to be self-aware enough to admit the fact that this is a pop-driven project. I know that I can make pop music, and pop is just that it’s popular. It starts to become a bit of a thing that’s viewed as a sport by people who are just bystanders to it, who enjoy it, but maybe also don’t respect it or what it is, which is just music."

She added that the album was inspired by 80s nostalgia:

“I wanted to play with that nostalgia by using these Lo-Fi sounds and samples and things that reminded you of something from your childhood, but it wasn’t on the nose ‘80s.”

Doja Cat has teased the release of her fifth album since October 2024. Its lead single, Jealous Type, was released on August 21, 2025.
