Since A$AP Rocky announced his upcoming fourth studio album, Don't Be Dumb, on June 21, 2024, during a Paris Fashion Week show, fans have been eagerly awaiting its release. However, since the shift from the initial release date of August 30, 2024, A$AP Rocky has not provided any updates on the album's new drop date.

After significant pressure from fans, A$AP Rocky announced on March 2, 2025, that the album was already being mixed and mastered. He also mentioned that he preferred not to discuss the album any further, as fans were eager for its release at this point.

“People are tired of hearing about updates about the album. They’re just ready to get this sh*t, you know what I’m saying? I don’t think anybody wants to hear where I’m at with it, how far is it along and all that. They just want to hear some sh*t just to see where I’m at, and I promise I got some new sh*t in store. I’m challenging myself. It’s like anything, I approach it with a different tactic, degree, or finesse.”

During a recent interview with Variety on May 6, 2025, A$AP Rocky provided more information about his upcoming album. He revealed that the album represents who he is now and hopes “that it's digestible.”

He continues his description of Don’t Be Dumb after being asked about the track HIGHLIGHT, which is presumed to be a single on the album.

“I like to do things that don’t make sense. Nobody would have thought to put [folk musician] Jessica Pratt on that, but I think her voice so angelic. She literally let me write the whole thing, and she just sung it beautifully. She makes me want to be like a secret songwriter; I should probably get into writing folk songs. She’s sick."

More details on A$AP Rocky's interview with Variety

During his interview with Variety, Rocky touched on quite a number of topics. After speaking on his upcoming album, A$AP Rocky spoke about the ASAP Relli trial. When asked about the potential trauma that the case might have caused him, Rocky replied:

“It’s a traumatic situation, but I can’t dwell on it. I got Cannes to go to. I got an album to make... fashion shows to do... music to make... videos... I got all type of sh*t. Like, nah, why would I dwell on that dark-a*s sh*t? I talk about it from time to time, but for the most part, I don’t really think about that sh*t."

The hitmaker of F**kin Problems also discussed in depth his soon-to-be-released movie with Denzel Washington. When asked if he was nervous to be working with the movie legend, A$AP Rocky replied:

“Nah, I was born for this. I’m not gonna waste nobody’s time. This is what I do — this is the same approach you would take to making an album or to directing or designing anything: You’ve got to give it your all. People judge you by integrity; that’s how you can measure someone’s principles and morals.”

He also described the feeling of working with Denzel.

“It was like a f*cking dream come true. But trust me, it was difficult to not fan the f*ck out every millisecond of the f*cking duration. It was crazy — it’s f*cking Denzel, man. I don’t give a f*ck how successful [I am]: I’m always gonna be a student and a fan of certain people, and I’m always going to give them their flowers. I’m never going to be too big to be able to say that I had to hold my composure from not fanning out.”

The movie, Highest 2 Lowest, will be out on August 22 before being made available on AppleTV+ in September 2025. The movie will make its Cannes debut in May 2025.

The father of two also spoke at the Met Gala about the casual announcement of baby number three that Rihanna made at the Gala:

“It feels amazing, you know? We were tired of holding that, and it was time to show the people what we was cooking up. I’m glad everybody’s happy for us, because we’re definitely happy."
