Kristin Chenoweth blew the audience away with her performance of The Star-Spangled Banner before Game 7 of the NBA finals between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Indiana Pacers on Sunday night, June 22, 2025.
As an acknowledged Thunder fan, Kristin Chenoweth has performed the anthem at several Thunder games in the past; this time, her live performance aired on ABC at 8 p.m. ET.
As reported by Billboard, Kristin Chenoweth first teased her appearance in the finals with a social media post where she was seen wearing Thunder gear. She announced she was in Oklahoma City while singing a few lines of the national anthem. The NBA later confirmed her appearance.
Kristin took the court and gave an enjoyable performance while wearing a Thunder 2025 NBA Finals shirt with light-washed jeans. A pair of sparkly, bejeweled knee-high boots completed her outfit.
She said during an interview at the game,
“I'm Kristin Chenoweth. I’m here singing the national anthem. I'm an Okie, and I've been a huge basketball fan my whole life. Eight years ago, I named my dog Thunder. I do love this song, and I take it very seriously. I definitely do my own version, a Thunder up!”
