“Disbanding before even being famous”: Internet reacts as EVERGLOW is reportedly set to disband in June 2025

Korean girl group EVERGLOW made their debut in 2019 under Yuehua Entertainment. The group has to date released five albums, with their last album, Zombie, released in 2024. According to an announcement made on May 13, 2025, by Yuehua Entertainment, their contract with the group will be ending in June 2025. The agency expressed gratitude towards fans and confirmed the decision, following a "careful discussion with EVERGLOW."

The release added,

"We sincerely cheer on the new beginnings of EVERGLOW who has shared many memories with us over a long period of time, and we will support their future activites with warmth in our hearts."

Pop Base took to its X channel while alleging that the band is "disbanding in June." Users took to the comment section, with many expressing surprise at the announcement.

One user (@techniesnft) wrote,

"They're already disbanding before even being famous."

Amid the confusion, one fan (@positionsmafia) wrote,

"everyone don’t worry! sihyeon confirmed that they will stay a group! they’re just leaving the company but all members want to stay together!"

Another fan (@Avatlovenotes) wrote in support of the band,

"not disbanding. Just upgrading their freedom. we love to see it."

According to a few users, the group had reportedly faced payment issues with the entertainment agency. One netizen (@lovesick_melody) wrote,

"They deserve to find a new company after reading how screwed over they were with pay and how they just stopped being promoted. I hope it works out, it's brutal out there."

Another (@usethundr) added,

"They deserved the spotlight they worked so hard for, their company really failed them."

Will EVERGLOW disband in June 2025 following their contract termination with Yuehua Entertainment?

Yuehua Entertainment's press release made many netizens wonder if EVERGLOW will be disbanding. However, a contract expiry doesn't necessarily mean the band will no longer make music. The agency wished the group the best for the future and added,

"We hope fans will also show warm support and encouragement for the new journeys that theyiwill each take on individually."

While the information is under wraps about which agency the girl group will be working with, it is for now unlikely that they are disbanding. A user shared a video clip of lead vocalist Sihyeon and Ondo from their TikTok live, where they provided clarification to fans. Sihyeon said,

"We don’t have any thoughts… we don’t think about disbanding. [We’re] just… Yeah, leaving the company guys."

Onda confirmed that while their contract has "finished", it's,

"not like EVERGLOW finished."

Sihyeon added,

"there's no disband, we are gonna keep our team, just leave Yuehua."

Soon after Yuehua announced that EVERGLOW's contract would be expiring, rumors took over the internet that the band was disbanding. It was only after Sihyeon and Ondo clarified that they are very much together.
