The Cardi B and Offset divorce saga has taken another turn, with the rapper reportedly holding out for spousal support in the divorce settlement with his soon-to-be ex-wife. Both sides have posted messages about the split on social media, and there have also been accusations that have played out in court. The divorce proceedings have been ongoing since August 2024, when Cardi B initially filed to end their six-year marriage.

Although the specific figures of the amount that the rapper is seeking have not been disclosed yet, a recent report by TMZ seemingly confirmed that he has requested spousal support. He has filed an amendment response to the original petition this month, which includes a demand for alimony.

He has also made it clear in the past that he wants joint custody of their three children.

Offset and Cardi B's divorce - A brief history

Cardi B and Offset first sparked romance rumors back in February 2017 when they attended the Super Bowl together. The duo took their relationship to another level in the autumn of 2017 by getting married, but problems in their relationship soon began to surface amid heightened public scrutiny. Their recurrent fights soon became a theme and continued to make headlines.

The duo's relationship has been marked by high-profile spats, apologies, and reconciliations, but has now reached its definite end. Cardi B tried to file for divorce earlier in 2020 but did not follow through as the duo got back together.

The two had been able to resolve their differences each time, but the recent divorce filing seems to have a definite finality to it. After the Anaconda-famed star filed for divorce in 2024, there was once again an ugly spat between the two that played out in public. Amid increased public scrutiny, while requesting others to respect their privacy, Offset posted this statement on his socials:

"Keep my name out sh*t please thank you tired of this circus I want out. Let ppl live they life… I want peace no smoke I love all bardi gang we grown man she happy let her live she don’t want to see this sh*t either man life goes on we can all be friends man."

The news of Offset asking for financial assistance in his divorce settlements took many by surprise and has added another chapter to an already contentious divorce saga. While the matters continue to play out in court, it remains to be seen if Cardi B will accept the terms.
