The band had last performed at the 2024 Sick New World festival in Las Vegas.

Alice in Chains cancels upcoming tour

The 1987 formed band, Alice in Chains, was all set to perform at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut, on Thursday, but had to cancel the performance, as their drummer and co-founder Sean Kinney suffered a medical emergency.

They took to their official social media handle to announce the cancellation. They posted a statement that said that after the soundcheck, Sean experienced a non-life-threatening medical emergency.

Their statement on X read:

"We unfortunately have to cancel tonight’s show. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. Refunds are available at the point of purchase."

On May 9, 2025, Alice in Chains released a broader statement on their Instagram story. In that statement, they announced that they will cancel all the remaining May tour dates, including festival appearances and other shows where they would have been headlining:

"After careful consideration and following the advice of medical professionals we have made the decision to cancel our upcoming festival performances and the Alice in Chains headline shows. While we were all eager to return to the stage, Sean's health is our top priority at this moment. Although the issue requires immediate attention, his long-term prognosis in positive. We sincerely appreciate your understanding and support during this time," the statement read.

As per Loudwire, the band's official website has removed all the shows for May, but the website still lists the Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne's Back to the Beginning concert scheduled on July 5, 2025, at Villa Park in Birmingham, UK.

The Seattle-based brand consists of the guitarist Jerry Cantrell, drummer Sean Kinney, lead vocalist William DuVall, and bassist Mike Inez. This tour, which was supposed to begin on Thursday, would be the band's first time on stage since their last performance in 2024.

Alice in Chains is often associated with grunge music, but their style and sound are deeply heavy metal. They are best known for harmonized vocals, and some of the hits by the band include Man in the Box, Them Bones, Down in a Hole, Would?, Rooster, and Angry Chair.

Alice in Chains has not given any update on Sean's condition as of yet.
