When was Abracadabra released? Exploring the details.

The New York Times album review of Lady Gaga’s Abracadabra opined about the song:

It is, of course, an expertly executed sequel to her 2009 smash “Bad Romance.”

Another report in Billboard indicated that it is one of the three singles that preceded her latest studio album, Mayhem. It dropped on March 7, 2025. Mayhem marks her first album since Chromatica, released in 2020.

The Mother Monster debuted the song during an ad-break at the 2025 Grammy Awards, held on February 2, 2025. Soon after its release, it ranked at No. 13 on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart, according to Billboard.

Abracadabra followed two other singles, Disease (released in October 2024) and the Billboard No. 1 hit Die With a Smile with Bruno Mars. In an interview with Elle magazine, Gaga explained the meaning behind the Abracadabra song:

“The song is about facing the challenge of life and the challenge of the night and finding the magic in it all. When you have to face the world, the people around you, your life, your unique circumstances, your unique fabric in the world.”
“I wanted this song to be about resilience in a way the song Disease was not. That track was about inner torture and being trapped,” she concluded in her interview.

In the report, Gaga added that she worked with Peri Rosenzweig and Nick Royal for the costumes, while Hunter Clem and Genesis Webb supported her as dancers for the track.

Speaking to Elle magazine about her latest album, Gaga added:

Mayhem is about following your own chaos into whatever cranny of your life that it takes you to. And in that way, it was about following the songs. Writing as many songs as I did for this album was a labour of total love. And then you just have to be very cutthroat by the end.”

The report stated that her fiancé, Michael Polansky, also helped her to write parts of the album — “like seven songs!” she said. Mayhem reportedly includes 14 tracks.
