Lollapalooza 2025 Day 1: Performance highlights

These are some of the standout moments from Day 1 of Lollapalooza 2025 at Grant Park, Chicago.

Tyler, the Creator

Fans were excited to welcome back Tyler, the Creator, after his four-year absence from Lollapalooza. What built up the hype was Tyler releasing his ninth studio album, Don’t Tap The Glass, a week before the festival. He performed with minimal stage props and costume changes, including his new songs such as Like Him and Sugar on My Tongue. He also included a few fan favorites like Earfquake and New Magic Wand. The crowd was hyped up and energetic, singing along to Sticky.

Gracie Abrams

Gracie Abrams got on stage and said, "Holy sh*t" looking at the crowd gathered to see her perform. She continued:

"This looks and feels a lot different... the craziest thing I've ever seen in my life."

While Gracie sang one of her favorite songs, Dancing On My Own, she was joined on stage by the singer herself, Robyn.

She ended her set by thanking the crowd, saying:

"I'll never forget this day. Thank you so much."

Cage the Elephant

Cage the Elephant has made six Lollapalooza appearances so far, and each time, the crowd rocked out to their hits. Apart from their own songs, they also paid tribute to the late "Prince of Darkness," Ozzy Osbourne, by performing Black Sabbath's Changes.

Ratboys

The Ratboys debuted on Day 1 at the Bud Light stage of Lollapalooza 2025. Julia Steiner, the singer-songwriter of the indie band, said:

"Lollapalooza is like, obviously, one of the largest festivals in America, but in Chicago it has sort of this larger-than-life reputation... It's exciting to be part of the party and get to play one of the big stages at the fest too, it's pretty surreal."

Apart from their released discography, the band also played a new song titled Light Night Mountains All That from their upcoming album, which will be released next year.

Luke Combs

Luke Combs made history as one of the first country headliners to close a Lollapalooza music festival. He said:

"If I wasn't here tonight, I know I'd still be playing these songs, just somewhere else, like a bar in my college town."

Lollapalooza 2025 Day 1 set the tone for an unforgettable weekend, with multiple artists and genres on the roster. From Tyler, the Creator's much-awaited return to Luke Combs’ closing performance, the moments on stage reminded fans why Lollapalooza remains one of the most iconic music festivals in the world.
