Mariah Amani Buckles, popularly known by her stage name, Mariah the Scientist, had to cancel her performance at the Governors Ball. This year, the music festival started on June 6 and ended on the eighth, which is a Sunday. The Saturday show experienced a delay due to weather conditions. Some of the performances had to start later than was scheduled.

After the Governors Ball reworked their schedule because of the weather, Mariah's name was still on the list of artists who were supposed to perform. However, the cancellation was so sudden that no announcement was even heard at the venue. The official Governors Ball Instagram account posted a story simply saying:

"Due to unforeseen circumstances, Mariah the Scientist will no longer be able to perform."

More details about Mariah the Scientist cancelling her Governors Ball gig

After a few shuffles in the list of performances on June 7, 2025, Mariah the Scientist's cancellation came as a surprise to many music festival goers. According to the new schedule, Mariah was supposed to perform from 5:45 to 6:15 pm. But the Governors Ball Instagram story update left fans disappointed.

The "Burning Blue" singer herself posted two Instagram stories a few hours later. In the first story, she posted a black photo with the words:

"So upset I’m not getting to perform at Gov Ball today. I’m so sorry to everybody who showed up through the traffic and rain. I apologize."

She followed with another photo from inside the car with rain droplets on the window. She also wrote:

"I really wanted to perform," starting with a heartbroken emoji.

Mariah and the Governors Ball music festival have yet to give reasons why the singer decided to drop out of the Saturday lineup at the last minute.

However, it was not only Mariah's set that was cancelled. A few other artists who did not perform on Saturday include Yaya Bey, The Backfires, and Lexa Gates. Other artists whose performances were moved to a later time included Olivia Rodrigo, Feid, and Wave To Earth.

Many were disappointed with Mariah the Scientist's last-minute cancellation of her Governors Ball performance, and fans are waiting for the artist to explain why she could not perform. But there is still one more day left of the music festival. Artists such as Hozier, Clairo, Raye, Royel Otis, Glass Animals, and more will be performing.
